RE: The timetable1 May 2020 06:34
jl5006, many business owners (hotels/restaurants etc) on the coast are cautiously optimistic. They are questioning the viability of operating at a very much reduced capacity, in compliance with the imposed restrictions, in the near term (initial phases of opening up). Having already incurred huge losses and knowing what they need to break even, the biggie is, "can they achieve b/e or can they afford to incur further loss, if not?" Eager to open and comply fully on the one hand, in fear of further losses on the other. Lots of talk and optimism for July onwards. If the flights and airports can get their bit sorted first, the optimism will increase. Also there are lots (around 37) towns and villages in the province that are covid free. More than half of the cases recorded to date are in Malaga city. Yes, it's wait and see, with plenty of optimism. Marbella is being very pro-active. The testing initiatives being undertaken by the town hall and business people is inspiring. i.e. there are currently 4,000 people, in businesses that have been allowed to stay open the whole while, being tested by the town hall. Business people have already funded the testing of folk in the care homes. A lot of private enterprise is stepping up to the plate, lots of positive and inspiring stuff going on, up and down the coast and inland.
