boldboy, thing is, as you are aware, we all know what probably lays ahead after this immeasurable catastrophe - albeit we don't know the extent. It's how we all deal with it that matters and if all of the next generation, in business, were doom and gloom merchants, then I might lose faith myself. The ones I associate with are all out there doing their thing to make it happen and remain positive cos they aim to win - without debt mountains or being had by the short n curlies. The other side of the fence that I listen to, is my SNP relatives up in the highlands, doom, gloom and negativity rules the day up there. Does that come under "thick"? Even here, in Spain, there is a mass divide in the thought process between the right and the left, the winners and the losers. But then, you don't need me to tell you that. How are we ever gonna meet in the middle?
DT, it isn't my favourite song, it was simply a reminder of what we all need to keep sight of and my goodness if everyone of us were to focus solely on all the negatives in life .. then, just what is the point - of life? There are so many intelligent posters on here - no matter that their view points may differ/or political leanings - however constant doom and gloom from your own stance, beggars the question "do you do positive in any way, shape or form?" Bulls and Bears, yep we get that. Longs and shorts, yep we get that too. Constant doom and gloom merchants, nope, don't get that one. Explain your argument to give us all greater insight?
Oxo, just had to get past the sad bit today, should have/would have been at a funeral 2 hours ago in the uk ... I don't have an import/export chart, however I can tell you that my proteges of yesteryear are winning, big time, especially one in the big smoke with business in other countries too. Yesterdays report was "April was the most profitable to date" - in commercial and industrial construction. "Have they all paid on time?" Yep. So the negativity from the doom and gloomsters whether in investments or otherwise, might need to think about changing tack. One the - a big little lad - not a million miles from Wids is also winning big time. Add to that, more than a few in yorkshire. Add to that, theres a chap over here, ex yorkshire east coast, agriculture, employs 150 + on a contract (zero hours??) and its never looked better for him. He supplies Waitrose and Tescos in the UK. As you know Oxo, I do real. I can tell you about a few others, early retired(allegedly) - ex FTSE/250 - who have gone in, to work on behalf of the bankers, to get the money back for the latter ... and they will. What else can I tell you? Oh yes, if I don't have the answers I know plenty who do, in the real world. Times change, gotta keep up.
never lose sight of what matters

to get back on track/get things moving ... a live video shown to me at 7.50 am ... a queue of 23 cars had already formed outside our local garden centre in the UK, to gain entry at 9 am. Eager to get out, eager to spend, eager to get life back on track.
and the show will be back on the road ...
Oxo, c'mon if we're being really silly - in, all in it together world - and heeding the advice from the "experts" there'll be no bus driver antics. Shanks's pony, or go long 3 wheel adult electric trikes - or put one on your list to santa. Just checked em out, there's a wide range to choose from. Much easier than struggling with the shopping, on a cycle, when pootling about town.
Fred, 2016 was when I needed to dance to trade myself out of a long held loss to a win and I wasn't going to stay into year 8 (for me) but I have, cos it's a running free position. It was also the time when DHC was doing a right old routine on here.
for you, imagine how crowded the ground would have been under a different set of circumstances?

jl5006, you speak much sense. I know others will disagree, we can't all think alike. You were also correct about the matron role of by-gone times. The title and role today, differs enormously. As for the requirement of a degree to become a qualified nurse today - as opposed to a wealth of practical experience - you were very right on that one too. The unions and the left, heaven forbid we have any repeat performances of the 70's and 80's. Only last week a suggestion/advice from a GP to one that I am currently advocating for, was, "perhaps you should consult with/involve the unions". No, no and no.
