Why rush the approval so much?

Incidentally, I've been listening to the news on Spanish radio RNE (the national broadcaster, a bit like the BBC) and the approval of the vaccine by the UK has been announced as follows: "London has approved the Pfizer vaccine and will approve the Moderna vaccine next week." Yes, "will approve", and not "could approve" or "is likely to approve." So much for the perceived independence of MHRA.

In general, if you speak any other lingo, I encourage you to listen to foreign news once in a while. I find it refreshing to get an external look at what's going on here, as seen from France, Germany and Spain.

It's just to avoid being accused of being one. It's unpleasant to be called an anti-vaxer, and so be put in the same box as individuals with Trump's IQ who believe the world is run by lizards from space, just for being sceptical about a rushed vaccine approval.
