to dock in Scotland because IMHO the Scottish Government's rules seem to be out of date. It says "everyone on the ship was a UK resident, fully vaccinated, and recently tested negative.". SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM. Nicola Sturgeon and her mob need to get some aducation I think. Less than 1000 covid free people wanting to go ashore and spend money and they say NO. Madness if you ask me. Sturgeon is going to be geting rather a lot of complaints I think. They can dock in England and NI so the Scots who missed all the trade will be fuming mad.
They will sail on to the next destination of course. Going forward when destinations have covid flare ups the cruise ships, full of vaccinated passengers & crew can simply not dock and move on.

So IMHO the Indian variant is not going to force a lockdown, at least here or any other country that have had similar amouts of people vaccinated.
The worst scenario would obviously be covid that side steps the vaccines and quite transmissable.
In this case once detected the race would be on to tweak the exosting vaccines so they work and administer them.
The main problem would be in the UK vaccinating over 30 million people again. How long would it take?
The first time around started proper in January 2021 and it took until end March for 30 million 1st doses.
It would take about 4 weeks to tweak the vaccines I have read.
In this scenario I don't think we could avaiod another lock down, unless we could vaccinate 30 million people in 8 weeks.
BUT this is worst case IMHO.
I conclude another lockdown is highly unlikely for the forseeable future, at least in the UK.

Portugal is off the green list, as I understand it, because the numbers of Indian variant and Nepal one are quite high. I presume our Government is more worrried about the Nepal one possibly being unaffacted by the vaccines we have. It's worrying because we don't know when this covid nightmare will end. Having said that if all people on a cruise ship are fully vaccinated and tested before boarding it is obvious being on the ship will be one of the safest places on Earth. Safer than shopping in Tescos by far I would have thought! People have/will realise this and cruise ships will be innundated with customers IMHO.

Very negative post. If all are completely vaccinated even if, somehow, one person has the virus it would not spread, would it?
They say that you are far less likley to catch & transmit the virus if you are vaccinated. Also those who are vaccinated & don't have the virus are far less likely to catch it, and even if they do they will not get very ill.
It seems to me Cruise ships in a few months time will be some of the safest places on Earth as far as covis goes.
This is why the sp here has not dived with the Airline shares.
Cruise ships do not have to dock, they can sail on.
Cruise ships can leave any destination within hours with all back aboard if there is a covid issue on land.
The sp here has only just started to improove I think. £30 a share IMHO in 12 months.

It's pretty obvious that if the Indian Government pay CNE £1.2 billion, less I presume some tax?? the sp would be more like £3.50 ! The Indian Government really should have paid up and are doing their tax payers no favours by delaying payment racking up legal costs. It is also damaging India's credit rating in the World. The money is Compensation for what was taken from Cairn.

Assuming normal India have been told (by the international Arbitration whatever) to pay Cairn $1.7 Billion in compensation (including legal costs) for applying ILLEGAL retrospective taxes back in I think 2010. This compensation award was last December. India have not paid. Cairn have taken legal action in several countires to potentially confiscate Indian Government assetts to pay the bill. This includes Indian airline planes, believe it or not and bank accounts.
Not abiding by International arbitration rulings is from what I have read extremely unusual, unlikely to avoid eventually paying up (with increased costs), and IMHO extremely unwise and frankly stupid.

However it's looking increasingly likely the European Summer will be gone by the time any significant holidaying happens which would be devastating to the travel industry and airlines. If they have to look to Summer 2022 how are they going to have the money to get there?
