To be honest...would you be as moody if the SP had found a base in the 40s?
CF has not done a lot wrong. Sure, his POV on transformational SP in a couple of weeks or so was rather unfortunate. But, as I said to him before the recent IM presentation, he should keep his counsel if it is not in his gift. Anything to do with the timing of the news of key events should be kept inside the BOD.
The biggest issue OO has had is selling begets selling. Some of the savvy investors forward sold ahead of what they were banking on TR selling post his lock-in. OK, TR did sell, but he was not the main seller. In addition, some of the II that took part in the placing earlier this year also banked gains; this all created a perfect storm, not helped with most of the brokers and HNWI away on their jollies, as is usual this time of year.
Most of the whining is really about the SP declining. This prompts the weak and insecure about lashing out at the management. I see this play out so many times. Nobody is called a CEO a big mouth or a blaggard when the SP is multi-bagging; that is an uncomfortable fact.
CF will do what is right for the long term future of the company and shareholders. If slowing down signatures for agreements and contracts seems prudent while we are in a summer lull. It is more important to get them signed off when the market is functioning more efficiently. That said, it is a fine line between delaying and holding the news back. The latter is not allowed.
I think we can forget how young OO is and how confusing some retail investors find spinning out new companies. The classic dilution theory by so many patently wrong; it is mindblowing. This did not help, but thankfully, I managed to get this message across to CF as it was important to hammer home how foolish this assertion is.
