RE: Might be nothing, but could be...4 Aug 2022 20:01
Mad,
TBF, I'm aligned with your view. The SBTX board are, as we know, frugal with our cash and looks to use it wisely. IMHO, quite a few investors forget we are at least two years ahead of schedule in terms of having a consumer product. Unless my old grey deceives me, the original plan before COVID was a clinical trial, which is both costly and lengthy. It is likely a fundraiser event would have been needed for the clinal trial to ensure there be a safe buffer. Off the top of my head, a clinical trial would cost somewhere in the region of £3m. Assume this is close, hardly dilutive. Again, assuming the clinical trial was for psoriasis, the benefit would be specific marketing claims. However, even though it is very early, the estimated sale figures are outperforming what SOH had anticipated by a long way after just nine months. Would a science validation improve the estimated sales figure by much? I've no idea. I suspect they may.
IMHO, I don't see SBTX changing their strategy at this stage; therefore, a fundraiser is unlikely. Moreover, assuming the oral project proves commercially viable, I think it comes with a milestone payment upfront (again - subject to my old grey remembering correctly). Of course, we have no clue how much any such advance would be... six or seven figures or a mere five?
Don't forget; it is almost certain some revenues are being received from the Croda/Sederma, and royalty payments are expected before year-end.
I tucked away a cheeky SB this afternoon, prompted by the drop. :)
