I had not idea I would be missed. I have been away for a few days in my beloved second home, Mechelen, where I am an able to restrict the consumption of wonderfully crafted ales in wonderful company. Oh, an I tend not to make a whole lot of sense when I’ve guzzled a few. I am now catching up with emails, conspiracies and a troubling rumour I fear may have more than a grain of truth.

I am looking forward to the boys at SBTX knocking it out of the park on Friday. If nothing else, I am in need of being vindicated for assuring PI’s they will be vindicated when all is revealed of their plans.

Rolls-Royce’s share price has achieved an altitude that would make even its jet engines envious. The aerospace and defence heavyweight has seen its shares leap an impressive 5.75% to 525p as of 19th September, reaching a new 52-week high, fuelled by the latest news from its Small Modular Reactor (SMR) business. While I agree with the sentiment that it's typically seen as a positive when high-ranking board members invest a "meaningful" amount in shares of the company they oversee, as it aligns their interests with those of other investors, I have no argument against this premise. However, claiming that Ashman hasn't earned his salary seems unfair. I've gone on record stating that I expect both the CEO and CFO will be vindicated in terms of both their salaries and strategic decisions, and I believe that all will be revealed in due time.

The default reaction from investors who have never built anything themselves often seems to be to lash out at those who have, especially when they feel let down. While I fully acknowledge that the past 18 months have been incredibly frustrating, particularly after the debacle of turning down distribution deals that the NOMAD must have reviewed, I also believe that the decision to go with UMG will ultimately prove to be the right one. The length of the contracts they initially wanted might have hindered UMG’s potential. That’s just my perspective, and I accept that I could be wrong.

By the way, just to be clear, this isn't meant to dig at you, but it does pose the question of why you invested.
