Add, Warren Irwin is not a fan of the West's strategic minerals initiatives. He pointed out that if we prevent China from buying our discoveries, then who will we sell them to? The West aren't buying them. He went on to ask, when was the last time a permit for a smelter has been granted in the West (USA)? We can't stop the Chinese without making sure that we have replacements for the Chinese. Its like EV. We mandate the move to EV vehicles, but have done nothing to deploy the charging infrastructure, nor building out the additional power stations that will be required, nuclear power stations.

I agree that our reliance on China must end, but it will need to be phased, much like the plan from Scott which we are all patiently waiting for:)

Cheers Fort, I did point out to Bob that he will need to go on a charm offensive if expect to win the votes of shareholders who are currently looking at a significant paper loss because of the current SP. He does recognise that rational, patient investors who are currently waiting for a monetization event would not want to get rid of the BOD at this time. So, I will carry on being patient.

I hear you Fort. We are making guesses and we don't know what is going on in the background. Perhaps there was nothing Bob and Scott could have done about BS short of buying the shares themselves. Was it their job to find a buyer for BS holdings? I am confident enough that Bob is doing his best to get a deal done while not giving solg away. I saw where you are assuming that Bob will accept a low bid so long as he is in the money. I think that is not fair. He is focused on getting the best outcome for all of us. I know that I am a former hawk flying with the doves. This company is in a capitalist market. Its not socialist company. Of course Bob and the CGP guys are here to make money. Why else would they get out of bed each morning? Incentives are required to get best performance. So they can feather their nests as much as they want so long as my beak gets wet also. I am OK with that. I consciously made the decision not to even top slice when the SP was at 40p because I believed, and still believe, that the assets will win out in the end and I did not want to be out when a bid landed. Of course none of us saw the merger coming so soon.

Finally, what would we prefer, Bob to be laser focused on getting a deal for us, our spending his days fussing about the day to day ups and downs of the SP?

I have exchanged emails with Bob and I am confident that he is busy fighting our corner, and has 153M reasons to achieve an excellent outcome for all of us. That is why I subsequently changed my stance.

Fort, while I share your frustration, we are all here to make money. You cannot fault Bob for taking some off the table when he had the opportunity. We all had the same opportunity last year when we were at 40p and we were all excited that a bid is near because the Japanese had arrived. Nothing stopped up selling at 40p then. We made our decision to hold. Not Bob's fault. He and Maxit, like us, are here to make money.

I really don't care who they place the CGP shares with so long as we have a monetization event and I can put this whole saga behind me. Reading that the village idiot have grandchildren made me realise that eugenics might not be a bad thing after all.

Fort, I think we are in a far better position today than we would be if DC was still ceo. The man was useless.

Like Bob said, this isn't a pump and dump business, and that he is working hard to achieve a proper monetization event for patient shareholders.

I vote to give Bob and Scott the chance to finish what they've started.

If they don't deliver, we can get rid of them at the 2024 agm:) If we vote them out, given that we don't have suitable alternative people to takeover, it will take another year to find replacements. So, we will end up in the same place either way if they don't deliver by Q1/24. Scott hinted that we might not need to place the CGP shares based on the outcome of the SR.

I share your frustration Fort. However, I think Bob and Scott represents our best chance at the moment to close a deal. Plus, the decimation of the SP started with DC not sorting funding out in time and gave the market that chaos reined at Solg towers.

Perhaps Bob was too busy with the deal to worry about BS unwinding. I am now willing to give them time to succeed.

Plus, the following line from the recent RNS was inspirational:

"There is no need to place the Subsidiary Shares at this time, and depending on the outcomes of the Strategic Review, there may be no need to place the Subsidiary Shares in the future."

Can't be any clearer that the end is nigh. Why say that otherwise?

Fort, as you know from my earlier posts, I had planned to vote against Scott. However, I was brought to the realisation that it would not make sense for us to vote out the current BOD because we do not have suitable people available to take their place, and that voting them out would be playing into BHP and Newcrest's hands who want the BOD gone so that they can pick up solg for a song because they are not aligned with us. Consequently, I have decided to vote for the current BOD even though it pains me to do so.

I understand your position regarding not voting against Scott, or the other directors who will be up for re-election at the 2023 AGM. I have arrived at the realisation that in order for us to remove the current directors, we must have capable and qualified candidates to replace them, which I don't think we have. Much as it will pain me, I will vote for and not against the current directors.

Point taken Add. Bozi got a lot of ego like some others here implying that I am dumb. I don't need to remind folks that all of the earlier guessing by the big egos here have been proven wrong so far and the outcome is the decimated SP. I didn't see Bozi predicting the merger, nor the tanking of the SP. Yet he would have believe that his guessing makes him smart and myself dumb. Go figure. I think our biggest near term concern should be what will happen to the already depressed SP if Scott has to raise funds to keep the lights on in the next quarter.

So we are reduced to crystal ball gazing now Bozi? Reading between the lines equal guessing.

Totally agree KapilD. Scott is behaving the same way a person out of his depth would behave. Bravado without the ability to back it up. Scott also criticised earlier management only to be even more incompetent than any of them. The only thing we have to look forward to is the upcoming crunch point where the money runs out. Remember, DC caused the SP to begin it's decent when he failed to secure funding in good time. If history repeats here, we will be wiped out for sure. We can only hope that Bob is much more capable than his front man.

Mathersfinger, I agree that the Chinese are making progress with their chip industry. USA worried that TSMC would fall into PRC hands. I am thinking that it will take time for China to find new markets to replace the USA market which they have depended on for so long. I don't care who buys solg, I just want it done before I expire like you said. I am so fed up of listening to Scott droning on about the rocks.

Agreed DBW. Sooner rather than later. I don't think I will be able to withstand another year of more talk about rocks, phased approach, and being allowed by the wife to buy more shares after decimating the SP in the first place.

Fort, my point is that the West is now in a trade war with China. Strategic resources initiatives are cutting the out of buying Western resources and companies. The latest is Nvidia being banned from selling IC chips to China. If this continues, it will hurt China's economy. Plus, the West is China's largest market. With the trade war, they cannot sell to us like they used to. That will hurt.

Rcgl2, there is much talk of a copper deficit. At some point in the future, if not now, Cascabel will be profitable to mine. The Chinese knows that. They are the best bet for a bid I think. They don't get hang up on human rights issues, unlike us.

You won't get any argument from me regarding globalisation and outsourcing of our jobs to China. I was working in Canada at time all that started. I was the lone voice in our company against outsourcing. Management wouldn't hear of it. I was told that I needed a paradigm shift. Lo and behold, the Chinese stole every idea that wasn't nailed down, and then we wonder how they became the number 2 economy.

I agree Add, I don't think BHP is on side. The Chinese are thick skinned and are not easily dissuaded from their objectives in a world where the West is moving to cut them off from key resources and to weaken them economically. In that regard, the Chinese are not blameless. They are in a fight for economic survival and I don't think they will pass on Cascabel. Scott should double his efforts to clinch a deal with the Chinese. I agree also that Bob's comments weren't likely to endear Solg to BHP if the goal was to improve relationships.
