Yup - if Goldman's forecast of $4900/Oz for December 2026 is accurate, we're looking at circa $2.4bn as we get towards the business end of the case.

With Gold now above $4000 and forecast to be much higher in 2026, this could be very, very costly for GoI indeed.

Given the magnitude of the impact of financial closure on TK, there absolutely must be an RNS either way by 7am on Monday. It'll be binary - everything signed off, or another delay to completion. Investors are taking their positions depending on which they think it'll be.

My view (and it's only an opinion) is: why would Harry push back the financial closure deadline by a maximum of 10 days from the end of September in a formal RNS if he didn't think it would be achievable?

Finance was supposed to be completed at the end of September. The fact that it was only pushed out in the RNS by a maximum of 10 days should provide some confidence that the deal is effectively there.

I agree though, another can kick will dent confidence.

The way I see it is Harry's "in the coming week" has given himself some wriggle room effectively until 7am next Monday.

In the interim, it's not worth watching the SP every 5 mins.

To be honest I'm expecting an RNS on Wednesday rather than tomorrow.

The last Friday in September and the last day of September are 4 days apart.

Plenty of time left.

A finish above 1p today would be great. Consistently exceeding 12-month highs on a daily basis with news yet to come. There's not a lot to dislike.

When SoC was submitted on 16th May, the price of gold was around $3,327/oz. At recent prices of $3700/oz and scaling the SoC accordingly, that would put SoC at approx $1.8bn. At $4000/oz, $1.9bn. At $5000 (hey, award is potentially 2+ years away, so why not?) $2.35bn.

The price of gold used for the SoC is likely to be more conservative than the prevailing price on publication date, too.

It makes increasing sense for GoI to settle quickly before gold's bull run makes it even more costly. Mark knows this, hence his little smile when he was asked about settlement by Andrew.

For what it's worth, I had planned for a month for lab results for Hole 1, but am hoping for sooner (plan for the worst, hope for the best, etc.). As a result, I'm unconcerned if nothing is forthcoming in the next fortnight for that.

If there's no separate announcement on Hole 2 in the meantime, I expect a progress update on this will be provided as part of the Hole 1 assay results.

The short version of the long story...

Panthera has sued the Government of India for $1.58bn in an international court of arbitration. That figure was on the conservative side, so essentially the higher the gold price, the lesser the impact of the claim to the Indian Gov't.

Panthera and their lawyers LCM believe they have a strong case; if Gov't of India agree it would make sense to settle, crack on with the gold mine and make the most of gold's bull run.

The online equivalent of people in the high street wearing sandwich boards saying "The end is nigh".
