S&P 500 futures are up 57 points, or 1.1% ahead of the open while Nasdaq futures are up 1.5% and Russell 2000 futures up nearly 2%.

The market is cheering a softer US jobs report that saw the unemployment rate tick higher to 3.9% from 3.8%. That led to broad weakness in the US dollar, falling Treasury yields and higher stock markets as softer jobs will eventually given the Federal Reserve room to lower rates.

...totally agree HU I said the same thing in another thread...incredible how much influence the fed/Powell has...also a lot of eyes/interest in the US Employment data Friday...off to golf again while the weather's good for a change gl atb.

Imo market probably waiting to see what powell has to say around the FOMC wed (no change in rates here imo)....gla.

If i remember correctly..Scandi expat a forum poster and ex Lloyds employee (i think) gave all the reasons why a takeover by a foreign bank would not happen.....it was at the time jpmorgan chase were breaking into UK retail banking via their Chase bank app...jpmorgan chase are huge with a market capitalisation of around 560 Billion USD and some peope wondered why they didnt just buyout a large uk bank which they could easily do....gla.
