Hi C trader, You have to understand that "trading" is actually gambling and there is no guarantee that you will make money in the medium term whereas most sensible investors do. The most successful investor in the world, a gent by the name of Warren Buffet says that he almost never has done "trading" but sticks to certain principles for his investing activities- you can look them up.

Son bought bought a bunch of these for 30p last year when the market went stupid because of Boris's fearmongering. Proves yet again that Warren's maxim of buying when the rest of the doughbags are in a panic does work.

A few years ago someone heavily rear ended me such that my car was also shoved into the car in front and written off. I got mymoney fro the car no problem but within a few days, one of the thieving injury claims merchants began to phone me and suggest that I must have been injured and they could help me get more money. Well I wasn't injured at all but they persisted for some weeks phoning me and telling that they could get me some "damages" if I would sign up despite me saying that I was not injured. Now that behaviour demonstrates just many £millions worth of fraudulent claims must have been made over the years costing all of us higher premiums; so glad it has now stopped.

Ah but there has not been a "special" lately except for the one we had in July which was actually not from normal profits. I would just love to know how much cash is on the balance sheet at present.

During the the 1970's Harold Wilson's Government managed to get the inflation rate up to well over 10% and for those that remember it was quite dreadful to watch your grocery bill go up week after week, especially if you were a pensioner or on the dole. Meanwhile over in Switzerland, the highest it ever got to was 4% in 1971 and a lot of the time it was around 2.5% so I don't believe it was anything to do with oil. It was in fact down right incompetence and what bothers me is that this present government is also displaying many signs of economic incompetence. E.g., they have spent money like water in a fuitile attempt to solve a disease problem and nobody seems to care.

The last time we had "galloping inflation" was a very long time ago, started by Harold Wilson's government if I recall correctly and slowly crushed by Maggie Thatcher's. Most people today have no idea how evil and destructive it is because they have not experienced it and unfortunately that includes the nincompoops who are currently in charge.

Much of this proves what I have said for many years:- The "just in time" fashion is just that, a fashion and a rather silly one too. I could never get said fashion's pundits to prove to me the huge advantages which said method was supposed to confer when I was in business; in fact my own approach which was to buy and hold commodities when prices were good often resulted in enhanced profit for our business.

Don't think iit will be a VC outfit - insurance is a highly specialised service industry and if you don't have the knowledge/experience gained over years you can get your fingers burned. Whereas getting to understand how to flog groceries can be done in a few months (IMO)

It's actually a kind of gambling, i.e., you are betting that a particular share will go down in value and that's all there is to know. Personally I believe that it should be outlawed because it always encourages those involved to attempt various nefarious manipulations of the SP and you are right Cul it doesn't always work well plus other traders can be deceived and make wrong decisions.

Nine times out of ten Wickes beats B&Q and Homebase on price. E.g. Own brand 2 speed 18v drill - Wickes £45, B&Q - £50, Homebase - £48 so I nearly always go to Wickes first

I believe that these things every so often in order that those of us who do not suffer from panic attacks are enabled to make some cheap purchases, it's been that way for most of my now quite long life. Unfortunately I can't enter the fray at present being a bit short of readies.

Here we go again, there is absolutely no logical reason to swap an appreciating asset (LGEN shares) for a depreciating asset(cash) especially when there are signs of inflation but that is what many investors are doing today. One can only presume that they are unable to think properly as I have often suspected.

I always expect my picks to take at least a month or two to settle to a decent price while the day traders,etc., fiddle about among themselves. My last two winners 40% and 80% both took about 3 months sitting on my hands. I dare say the same will happen with WIX.

£35m is a tiny deal for LGEN which has £1+tn under management, if they lost all of it, the effect on profit would be maybe 1 - 2%. My bet is the board probably saw it coming and unloaded months ago.
