RE: AZ Is In A Longterm Downtrend2 Feb 2021 15:45
That's a pretty gloomy conclusion to come to. I don't think AZN was ever expecting the vaccine to be a big earner, given it stated at the beginning it would be non-profit only until the pandemic is over, with the expectation of several competitor vaccines on the market. Has it come to cost to other drugs? What's your evidence?
Would you have suggested it was in a "longterm" uptrend when it hit £100? Or would you have thought it was buoyed by over enthusiastic investors perhaps not well informed on the company and whether the vaccine was being sold for profit. Regardless, it's a stretch to regard a price action over only six months as a trend.
Why would you suggest the dividend will be cut? Based on what? Why do you think the next trading update will disappoint? You're putting a lot out there without substantiating your point of view. Amidst the noise of covid AZN has quietly been racking up more approvals for its core business, and I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this.
