a) How much would a new kiln setup and or ball mill grinder cost? (looked on ebay, but got no further than a BBQ and a Kenwood ;0). Would that be a good use of the cash being generated?

b) Is there room on site for a new kiln / crusher?

I genuinely believe this is the way forward, to decentralise the generation of electricity, local grids with the national grid used to balance out supply / demand.

Go with Ecotricity Endion, been with them for years (electricity and grass) and never had a problem.

Unless I missed the Low Carbon Networks Fund seems to have little / nothing about storage:

This is over a year old, but about sums up the energy 'policy' in this country:
"The six DNOs that are licensed to run the electricity distribution network in different parts of Britain are precluded from ownership or operation of energy storage due to the market distortions that could result from such activity. In July’s Smart Systems and Flexibility Plan, a strategic overview published by Ofgem and the government, the view was put forward that DNO ownership could impede the development of a competitive market for flexibility services and that such needs should be met through open tenders to the market."

I love the bit about "energy storage... could impede the development of a competitive market", like their policies have created on so far!

So really we need to get the MP's noses out of the Brexit trough and get them looking at battery storage that is achievable and will enable peak output from wind etc to be hoovered up rather than feathering turbines.

Housing estates designed to maximise South facing roofing, panels on each roof, local storage (VRFB obviously) to store excess during day. Max out on insulation ................... Most modern housing could be designed to be V low carbon and all it would have taken was a bit of legislation........ oh hang on, Govt seems to be incapable of that :-(

On a slightly different thread, iirc, Swansea tidal cost £1.3 billion for 320MW, Hinckley C £14 billion for 3200MW. Admittedly Swansea would only generate for 14 hours per day, but little ongoing costs.

New offshore wind is coming in at about £50 MWh the strike price for Hinckley C is >£90 MWh.......... FFS, at those levels offshore wind and large scale storage will be comparable with that.
