Taking away the necessity for financial prudential control from banking - disaster.
De-mutualisation of building societies - disaster.
Partial privatisation of NHS - utter disaster.
Privatisation of railways - utter disaster.
Privatisation of power - utter disaster.
Privatisation of water - utter disaster.
The con in Conservative, only slightly more culpable than the numpties of New Labour!
The list could go on and on. Having said that, the only people who didn't notice were the perpetually half cut (so most of my ever so middle-class friends) the drug addled, everyone in the city (who profited (self-serving, self-imposed, selective ignorance)). Again, you could go on and on.
I don't think it's unfair to say that everywhere, an Industry, a consortium, a Gov 'Paper Tiger' be it regulatory authority or ombudsman, whomever, are left to 'mark their own homework', they invariably fail miserably. To ask them to be both gamekeeper and poacher is, to be fair, a tough ask from the profit seeker; altruistic, benevolent they are not! For the most part.
We got the politicians, the policies, the cronyism, the short-sighted, stupid, near term, election next year, muddle-headed thinking we deserved. Phew!
Aside from my ranting. Bring on the water testing; under extreme governmental duress!
