PCR global testing market size29 Dec 2021 18:25
1.2m positive cases in the world yesterday. Let's use a 10% positivity rate meaning 12m PCR tests were conducted yesterday. Let's say they are sold by diagnostic companies such as us to the governments and private labs for £10 each. That's £120m per day on PCR tests. That's a £44bn industry for PCR testing. Now there's an argument to say testing won't always be this high, but then again there is an equally valid argument that says if we want to live with Covid then testing will have to increase. Even if Covid only sticks around for another 2 years, that's nearly a £100bn up for grabs, and we're right in the thick of it.
Looking more short term, that's £120m per day up for grabs. We are forecasting £0.3m per day. Plenty of room to grow into.
