Sounds like on site mini labs at testing sites would be helpful. One person with a laptop and 7 Q's for 12 hours a day = 2600 tests per day. One or two thousand dotted around the UK and you just increased your capacity by almost 800k tests per day. People getting results in an hour or 2 instead of a day or 5. Negatives go back to work and economy keeps turning. Sounds so simple.

Don't agree 21ATS. If that was the case then we'll never sort the problem. You don't avoid British companies for the fear of been accused of corruption, you simply follow a predetermined process that is designed to give all companies a fair chance. If all companies have been given a fair chance and the chosen supplier has been selected based on predetermined KPI's then if you happen to choose your best mates uncles company it can easily be proven that they were the best choice based on price, quality, deliver, whatever the criteria may be. It just needs a transparent system. They don't have to go and pump £3bn into the Chinese economy. I'm sure the system is already there. For obvious reasons they decided to bypass it. Probably because the controls were slack and they'd gotten away with it before. If they were worried about being caught out then they'd just fall back into doing it the right way, follow the process. Take minutes, review tenders, etc. Not go to China. Its possible they went to China for other reasons, political, power, money. Will we ever know. I hope so.

I do hope they are brought to task and heads roll because at the end of the day, they screwed us all over for their own greed.

Already happened in South Yorkshire Trouble. Both Sheffield and Rotherham now closed to visitors with special exemptions for end of life patients. Apparently too many visitors bringing in covid.

I was under the impression that everyone was tested before entering the hospital. I know patients are tested 72 hours before an appointment. Not sure what happens with visitors and A&E depts but clearly something wasn't working, and in such a critical setting.

Surfie, If it was to that easy to get speed, accuracy and volume all from 1 machine/test then I'm sure Abbott would have already done it. It can only be released when it's perfect and if I know ncyt, accuracy will be top of the agenda.

It also has to compete on price so to make something better and cheaper than a major then it's going to take time. We can only hope it will be worth it. We have a good track record so I'm comfortable.

It's the holidays so I have a lot of spare time.

Another old article but it gives a good comparison of the pros and cons of our tests and some of our competitors.

Abbot's ID Now is a PCR test and requires a machine. It can give a positive result in 5 minutes and a negative result in 13 minutes. The problem is, the improved speed has resulted in a significant reduction in accuracy. Also the ID Now can only process one test at a time.

Our 10 min PCR test sounds like it will be in direct competition with the ID Now which thanks to Donald Trump is already well established in the global market. Our PCR test will hopefully tackle at least one of the flaws of the ID Now. Whether it be accuracy or multi test will give it an edge. Both will blow it out of the water but that would be some serious neurons going to work to make that happen.

Imho, ID Now is no competition to our Mygo machines that give 30 accurate results in 60 minutes. Yes each person would have to wait an hour but in an airport you have plenty of time to pass. Also, cost will be a lot cheaper using Mygo, 7 machines, one laptop, one trained technician = 224 tests per hour or 1792 tests per 8 hour shift. That's about 5 or 6 decent sized plane loads. To get the equivalent using a ID Now assuming a 10% positivity rate 1792 tests would take 45 machines 8 hours to process. How many people would be required to operate 45 machines. I'd say at least 10. How much is 45 machines, well according to a purchase request I found on Google (can't attach) they are $5000 each. So that's $225k + an astounding $45 per test. Our Mygo 32's are about $15000 so for 7 that's $105k, I don't actually know what a PROmate test costs but I based it on Genesig which we charged to UN for around £7. Whichever way you look at it the Mygo is cheaper, quicker and more accurate than the Abbott ID Now. They are however a formidable opponent and had the backing of President Trump so it will be no easy feat to gain market share but certainly doable. Over to you ncyt.

An old article but sheds more light on the Tata MD Feluda test. As far as I can see it has nothing to do with our machines they have but back in 2020 there were talks of the paper based test being a game changer and possibly meaning that machines would be in less demand.

Given that TataMD have created the Rapid PCR XF (has ncyt been involved?) For use on our Mygo machines, I'm guessing the paper based test fell a little flat. Long live rapid PCR. The fact we're working on a 10 minute PCR in secret is amazing. Once a RNS comes out about this and it's gets the news coverage it deserves then investor interest in ncyt will be through the roof. Imo

Yeah it did well but for many reasons for what I can see. It was able to counter the restrictions and was making profit in 2020 H2. It can go down the click and collect route and Just Eat. Not sure where Spoons can go.

Greggs and Spoons are actually very similar in size, similar revenue, similar margins 7%. Mcap of Greggs is £3bn. Wow. 35-40 times profit. Nice. Not sure how that stacks up with others. Spoons £1b.

Greggs had and still has very little debt with an annual finance charge of a meager £7m Vs £60-70m for Spoons.

They have a similar liquidity level to Spoons but then Greggs free cash flow is better than Spoons.

The bottom line is the going concern. Greggs can adapt to an online service through just eat and click and collect. They can sell frozen goods to Iceland. There shops are walk ins unlike Spoons. All good options for a pandemic.

The £200m or so of liquidity that spoons has won't last long if or when further restrictions are introduced. As I said, small margins mean small margin for error.

Just my own personal opinion. Personally I wouldn't invest in either but who knows, under the right circumstances Spoons might survive. They're going to have to start shedding some cash burn though.

The next set of financials will be an interesting read. For both Spoons and Ncyt, but I feel for completely different reasons.

Problem with small margins is you need a lot of footfall. Not a lot of footfall in the hospitality sector in the middle of a pandemic.

I'm starting to see where the next gen antibody test might fit in. We need high levels of T cells in our system. A general antibody test will tell you you have antibodies but what if you don't have T cells. You basically have no protection from sever disease. You might want to stay in or get another booster. A standard antibody may give you a false sense of security when mixing. What about a test that told you how many of each antibody you have. I'm not sure exactly if our next gen antibody test can do that but it looks like it may be a big help.

Hospitals will be overrun. The unvaxxed get earache for not taking a jab so it wouldn't be too much to ask for everyone to just resist a nightclub or a restaurant for a few weeks then. It's always been about saving the NHS so what's our leader playing at. The writings on the wall and he still can't see it.
