Iranian official taunts Trump over oil price

The speaker of Iran's parliament has poked fun at Donald Trump's threat to block Iranian ports, posting a photo of gas prices around the White House.

US Navy will blockade Strait of Hormuz, Trump says

The US Navy will begin the process of blockading "any and all ships" trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz, Donald Trump has said.

"I have instructed our navy to seek and interdict every vessel in international waters that has paid a toll to Iran," the US president wrote on Truth Social.

Saudi Arabia confirms Iranian attack on crucial pipeline

Saudi Arabia has confirmed that recent Iranian attacks on its oil infrastructure included hits on the country's only pipeline exporting oil via Red Sea terminals.

Tehran's decision to effectively close the Strait of Hormuz has given Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline a central role in the global flow of oil.

The pipeline - which can transport a significant portion of the kingdom's oil to international markets - runs from Saudi oil fields in the country's east to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, bypassing Hormuz entirely.

The Saudi State News Agency reported that the attack led to a loss of approximately 700,000 barrels per day of pumped volume through the pipeline.

“The continuation of these attacks leads to supply shortages and slows the pace of recovery, impacting the security of supplies for dependent countries and contributing to increased volatility in oil markets,” the agency said.
