Thanks Keith im retiring in less then 10 months when I’m 60 so to be honest whatever happens in this strike is not going to affect me long term but some of my work mates are in there thirty’s and I fear for them . One particular postman I work with has a young family and is really struggling when he has to strike and even thou I’m in the union I said if you do work on a strike day I won’t think any less of you most of the postman in my office are over 50 and have no mortgages and there are 4 of us 57 plus who would all take VR . I put in my previous post I think we will losethe strike is people less well of then myself will gradually return to work or in some people cases work there day of

Keith you are 100% correct if everyone took Ispy stand nobody would be on strike to be honest as a postman I don’t think we will win this dispute but with people like ispy in the union we have no chance

Haven’t asked my manager how many hours our to come out of the office but what I do know 2 postman have left and we haven’t had them replaced yet so the office fails every day perhaps not replacing the 2 postman he has already took the hours out of the office

This is just a question to any posties on here . The manager in my office have already said if RM win the dispute. The start times in my office will be 8.15 at the minute we start at 6 with the phg starting at 5.30 anyone else been told what the new start times are just wondering if it’s different in other offices or every office will start at 8.15

Ispy you say you know how a PLC runs so why do you think ST will give us a pay rise out of the profit it makes rather then the share holders he works for I await your answer

I spy I’m no fan of ST but all the things you stated do you think he signed all them of it will probably be area managers I might be wrong ask your manager he might be able to tell you. Has I said in a previous post OT is banned in my office that wasn’t ST decision it was the area manager

Ispy what you have to realise ST is working for the shareholders not the workers that is why he will keep paying a dividend if the books say he can which will keep the price from dropping. If he stops paying a dividend the share price will drop . Now one of the augments for us to get a bigger pay rise is the money he has paid out in dividends could have gone to our pay rise but that isn’t how a PLC works

Tygra no I I’ve been a postman since 2006 you can stay until you are 67 if you wish that’s when I will get my state pension you don’t have to leave at 60 it’s just my 2 previous jobs I had were well paid with final salary pension I’m lucky enough to be able to retire. Has far as I’m aware I could excess my pension at 55 and take 25% lump sum and have the rest in a drawn down pension but I don’t need to touch my pension until I’m 65

Cheers for the reply Anger .IMO he is going to take the unions on that is his strategy and even thou I’m a postman I think he will win and get the changes he wants the share price might drop in the next month but when he gets the changes he wants it will pick up the saying is short term pain for long term gain.Now the reason I’m saying he will win is the postman will struggle to live on 4 days money you only have to look at ispy who has been working OT to cover is losses . In my office OT is banned rounds fail but will go out the next day.I’m sure there are more officers that don’t allow OT . With inflation at10% and going to go higher people can’t afford to strike for long and ST is in for the long haul .Me personally I wil be striking but I’ve only got 10 months until I retire at 60 and I’m lucky enough I can afford to strike but I’m definitely in the minority
