Suspecting that the Disney ethic might be a restraint..

There is not single R rated movie in their catalog.

So significant scale of production with anything from 35% to 50% box office revenues then being lost on each movie, to the cinema chains.

The logic there, then seems rather warped.

I baulked though at seeing AM + stimulation in the same line.
Persevered though, after seeing the peeps good replys then baulked again, at the opinion there would only be c.350M shares in issue, prior to an sp of £6+.

The ticks then given were solely purely on effort, x3 pages.
And some amyout-of-this-World optimism.

Having spent $71B acquiring Fox c.5 years ago, is there a further 10% available in their pillage funds?

Is a difficult call, ie. would Disney be interested ?
Their core business is entertainment.
The last instalments of Toy Story and Frozen both took more than $1bn at the global box office, as did Zootopia.
How much savings would they have made in the last decade from all their highly successful releases & franchises, had they then owned the box office ?

& I wouldn’t say that Disney are short of a bob or two :
Disney last year floated the 1st of their Triton class (4000 berth) cruise ships with an estimated cost of €1.25B & have another two ordered for 2024 & 2025 delivery. In addition to which they are taking over production of another vessel of Global class which has 6000 berth capacity. This was obtained from the for now defunct Dream Cruises. On a more poignant note, Disney acquired the ship for €40 million, a significant discount from the original value of €1.8 billion (Cineworld has not quite hit that same brick-wall, as seen from latest revenue figures, so tougher negotiations then needed from Disney / interested parties)
Perhaps the scale of these purchases could then be reflected similarly in their other 2 other business segments. They do have further history of also purchasing complete islands to then convert to the various Disney themes.

As an entertainment business, could a cinema chain be next ?

.. Disney chief executive Bob Iger has announced sequels for Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia as he detailed plans to turn around its streaming business.
Mr Iger said that Disney's animation studio has sequels "in the works".
Meanwhile, the firm revealed its first fall in subscriber numbers since its Disney+ streaming service launched in 2019.

‘It will continue to pour resources into the areas that have served it well in the past’ which seems to be focused on sequels…at the box office.

Hussar., there is some flexibility on that linchpin.

A recent experience with Chpt.11 was in the O&G sector and where the judge made it clear that her primary concern was ‘the safeguarding of the highly skilled workforce’ and only after this was the rubber stamping of any deals made.
For that particular case it meant the whole package was being kept together as an ongoing concern.
The metrics were an original mc.$2B followed by bankruptcy with debts $500M & new mc.$20M, with Wall St evaluation of $1.4B (not far from the revenues).
That then resulted in lenders gaining 90% equity. The O&G management then withheld the remaining 10% from the court with ‘distribution to be advised later’ in the final court dockets. That 10% was what this Pi had originally set his target on. Then later transpired that the board awarded themselves very nice equity bonuses & the previous shareholders all got deleted. Some you win…

Here & there is no ‘highly skilled’ staff that may offset the judge’s decision making and imv more importantly there are no part-time bit-players (O&G legal beagles) running the business but rather is a 3rd generation player who’s contacts with the industry will run very very deep. As hopefully will his ethics.

RoW & then comes with rather limited global PR.
So, what’s the chances of a similar Ali-baba / Bad Robot amalgamation again, but on a larger scale ?

& recently from the debtors advisors : ‘our lenders are effectively a bidder & if they become a stalking horse for 3rd parties, we would welcome that’.

AM stopped further correspondence c.18 months ago,
after i had questioned the lack of company comms.
The conclusion was that he was extremely thin-skinned
& perhaps too frigid to cover comms responsibly.

Cineworld Lenders Weigh Rights Offering For Bankrupt Movie Chain

Key Cineworld Group Plc (CINE) lenders are considering a rights offering for the world’s second-largest theater chain to help it emerge from bankruptcy, according to people familiar with the matter.

Some creditors have recently discussed a share sale that could raise $800 million — open only to existing lenders — for Cineworld as part of a restructuring plan, the people said, asking not to be named because the talks are private. The final size of any issuance depends on creditor appetite and how much debt the restructured company is deemed able to carry following its bankruptcy, the people said. 

Discussions are ongoing and no final decisions have been reached, they added. The restructured business could be valued at about $4 billion including debt, one person said. 

London-based Cineworld filed for Chapter 11 protection in Texas in September, after Covid-19 shutdowns hampered income and delayed movie releases, forcing it to reckon with a heavy debt load. The chain’s nearly $9 billion of liabilities including leases came in large part from its blockbuster acquisition of US brand Regal Cinemas in 2018.

Imul., apologies, but if possible please assist me to try get my head around this :

The short market as available to Pi / ii
Who short at £1000 per point, from eg. 4.3p
(the equivalent of 100,000 shares then ‘allocated’ to the short)
So maximum gain £4300 if sp then drops down to 0p
From a Pi margin of eg. c.£950 (which varies on the investors strength of portfolio).

Going the other way and say 100p materialises,
Then leaves the Pi owing £95,700 (or until the account is closed)

From which I believe your ‘borrow fees’ emerge..
ie. The 73% quoted on daily report,
would be the premium applied to the margin…
So just under £730 added to the margin ?

The ‘allocated’ 4.3M shares covering the ii shorts (>0.5%)
then being the equivalent of c.£43,000 per point,
which I’m guessing were derived from a margin of c.£10,000 + 73% borrow fee ?
(Using the Pi’s example of quoted margin).
If I’ve made a complete ass of the above, then my apologies!

Different query, but possibly relating to shorts :
A long punt on a very wild O&G has just seen the FCA release an updated prospectus (sadly resulting in 50% fall) & for which the reason being, is that although the company had allocated x million shares via placings, they had not followed through with ‘officially’ notifying the market, hence the revised paperwork / prospectus. My cynical senses then suspect a more pertinent reason for ‘waking up the FCA’, may be based on that some serious shorts were possibly involved as since the 50% crash, there has been some decent sized buys c.£100k, ie. possibly the shorts being cancelled.

Have you known of similar FCA requirements to notify the market of the correct number of shares in circulation, where there has perhaps been an active short ?
