There seems to be a lot of interest in copper and it appears significant extra production is going to be required for electrification.
I read a post on copper the history of it and the uses of it . There was something I found amazing 70% of all copper ever mined on the planet is still in use today. What I want to know is where the hell is the other 30% that amount of copper must be worth a Kings ransom.

One of my mates at work was asked 'What would you do if you won the lottery?' His reply 'I'd probably spend it on wine women and song and waste the rest.'

I noticed that there was no mention of the new Tesla factory under construction in Shanghai, not sure what it is for may be a battery plant or something else. On Youtube there are several Tesla followers who do drone fly overs every few days.

They are not buying a million vehicles this year they are buying between 20 and 25 million vehicles a year in 2030 all of them capable of autonomous driving. Plus huge solar energy business linked to large scale battery storage. In short they are buying massive disruptive potential to the transport, oil and electricity industries.

I presume you are talking of the costs of running the company rather than running the vehicles. Have a look on any of the numerous Youtube channels on the progress of the the Shanghai Berlin and Austin factories. the Shanghai factory has gone from a greenfield (muddy) site at the beginning of 2019, this time last year Berlin was a forestry plantation with specialists re-locating protected wildlife and Austin was not even the chosen site. This is the reason for the high operating costs 50% compound annual growth costs money.

Interesting. I particularly liked the Ford Boss saying

We’re now allocating a combined $29 billion in capital and tremendous talent to these two areas, and bringing customers high-volume, connected electric SUVs, commercial vans and pickup trucks.”
In truth Ford are so far behind I think they will be very lucky to even survive.

As opinions obviously differ and I doubt that you will ever change I do have something to say about Regulatory Credits.
Regulatory Credits are a waste product for Tesla and it makes absolute sense to sell the waste product if you can. I do not know what else the bears would do with it. Telsa is still profitable even without Regulatory Credits they are just icing on the cake which enables the company to grow even faster.
There will be other vehicle manufacturers that will transition to EVs VW certainly has a good chance of surviving by doing so. The market for EVs is enormous there is plenty of room for other players. Tesla has first mover advantage and a big head-start and the company is run by engineers hell bent on building cars better, cheaper and quicker not by MBAs who cannot see further than the next quarter financials.
You quite proudly call yourself a Vulture I suggest you you will find much better pickings in the fossil fuel industries and legacy auto makers that are on their way out much much faster than you can fly.

What Tesla worshippers are buying is the future. The Boring Company and SpaceX and Neural Link (you missed that one) are not part of Tesla they are separate companies.

Surely this problem is beginning to be sorted out there will be a lot of CO2 in transporting battery materials from mine to China for initial processing and then to Japan for further processing and then to the battery plant for manufacture and then to the vehicle manufacturer, There are new materials processing plants and battery factories under construction and planned in both Europe and the USA.
Of course no mention about how much more efficient EV's are even when using electricity produced from fossil fuels let alone wind power solar and hydro: or that EV's are likely to have a much longer life than ICE vehicles so that initial production CO2 is amortised over a longer period.

Maybe there is another big buyer wanting a lot of shares cheap and MM's have maneuvered the price low enough to trigger stop losses to facilitate the transaction.

The trial went so well that Maersk discontinued it.

That's right just have look at how much Germany is ramping up renewables and even in Trumps America have a look at how many coal mines have closed along with coal powered power station.

The Maersk trial appeared to be going very well until the trial ship hit an unmarked buoy of Egypt and was taken out of service for repairs. Maersk decided not re-commence the trial when the ship was repaired or use a different ship. There was no LONO and I think Maersk decided at that time to go with low sulfur fuel.
Unfortunately that was the last straw for me and I bit the bullet and swallowed a fair sized loss.
Either this company is monumentally unlucky or something is very wrong with MSAR.
From memory the IP was developed by BP in Venezuela but was closed down by the government. The company was formed and they had a trial of the fuel in a power station in one of the Baltic states which apparently went egg shaped when Russia sold them natural gas cheap.
Since then there have been other prospects like KSA to make electricity went egg shaped when the refinery hadn't paid its electricity bill. There was some inkling about a similar project in Morocco I think that just fizzled out.
My take is that this may have had a good chance 20 years ago and may have a chance as a transition fuel for a short while yet for use in ships with scrubbers I think it unlikely for use in power stations as apparently renewables are now cheaper than any fossil fuel.
I have no idea about company finances at this time, I do recall frequent cash raising exercises.

I have 'invested' here for quite a while principally because I thought it was worth a punt for the Lithium that was front and centre, the core of the company.
I have noticed the share price creeping up only another 60% rise needed to break even.

This is the easy bit according to Elon Musk. Producing the vehicles at scale is a 1000 times more difficult (just ask Mr Dyson).
Sony may have a good chance they do know a thing or two about Lithium-ion batteries and have been making them for about 40 years. Making them in the quantity required for a mass produced may be another matter

Nio have a battery swap system amongst other things. Essentially owners can subscribe to the service. They use up the power contact Nio make an appointment and show up to the swap station where the battery swapped for a fully charged one. This may be a really good idea in China where a lot of people live in apartments without charging facilities. It may also be a really bad idea if the vehicles catch on because they are going to need a lot more batteries than cars to be able to swap then when needed. Batteries are the biggest bottle neck and constraint to vehicle production. Teslas dedicated quick charging station solution seems to me to be a better bet.

The Tesla Semi does not need autonomy to succeed big time the savings on running costs and maintenance are huge. I have seen estimates indicating payback for the Semi will be around 2 years. The big problem is constraint on battery supply as you say it will require around 1Mw/h of batteries so if you were Elon Musk would you make 1 Semi for circa 200,000 dollars or 10 Model Y's or Model 3's (which have huge demand) for circa 500,000 dollars?
