It's just unknowable for us. There are no crumbs leading out of the woods - except perhaps the odd Edinburgh poster presentation and the deleted tweet. And the so-far not particularly helpful data from UNIVERSAL. We're hypothesising 9 months on from the September interim report, and have no evidence of any clinical progress whatsoever in that time. Could they have revealed more of the processes they're involved in before now - almost certainly. Does it matter now at 5 to midnight ? Probably not - but it's the reason so many are doubtful of the current situation and have little trust in RM or the board.

I can't believe the P2 delays are due to regulatory issues - but i can believe it's taken longer than expected to make the AAB test. Nothing else should be tricky - except for this area they have a very clear idea of the patient cohort. UNIVERSAL should refine the age or bmi targeting but its inclusion criteria was so loosely defined that it won't suddenly point to an entirely unknown cohort. Trialing with ventilated patients is something we know nothing about but it's meant to be the second mini trial. What have they done to prepare for this ? Is it still part of the plan ?

So we wait with no clue of where the company is clinically - and at the same time find that Synairgen is messing around with releasing full year results AND hasn't called the AGM. It has missed or is about to miss clinical and statutory / financial deadlines. Which is bizarre to say the least. If one of these matters was a fail you could remain optimistic, but for the company to miss every deadline, clinical or financial is pretty worrying.

meltonboy i did for about 6 days - but with tommy in there too and both of them going at it with both barrels day and night all i could see was the other side of the conversation, and i needed to see both to counter their ridiculous obfuscatory narratives - such as the one which occasioned this bit of badinage. fruits, tommy and little gunto have between them id-ed dozens of genuine ltis as fake accounts or trolls and that can't be allowed to pass unchallenged - tedious as it may be for the board. remembering that this is a debating chamber not a fan club and share holders of all colours and temperament are to be encouraged. if they seek harmony and accord they're welcome to spend their days in the cloistered peace of the private reddit group, where rm is still the bronzed, bearded hero, where pm is a whizz at trial design, and sng is about to be authorised all over the world.

Petri dish evidence of efficacy against the virus is not going to make anyone look at the drug for anything until the company completes its P2s at the least and probably a large scale P3. All of which is still going to take years unless a big Pharma comes for it.

I guess the bird flu pandemic will also take years to arrive - if it ever does so maybe at some far distant point there could be a serendipitous coming together.

Pivotal indeed Tommy. Within 2 weeks we'll know if they've found a partner that will pay all the bills until authorisation or whether the game is up. Not sure what relevance all of this has now PMJH. Unless you've been in a coma and just woken up ( H1 ends in 2 weeks if you haven't seen a calendar yet ) We've discussed Casanovalbs on here at length over the last 10 months. Although of course we've never been told officially that Clabs is involved ( it came in the post AGM chat with SS - as most of the rest of the titbits of info we've been worrying away at)

If Clabs has been involved and a fast test is produced that helps to id the AAB -IFN patients it might provide 8-12% of the biometrics required. But only for the most ill and without any definitive evidence of an effect on mortality. So using such a test will be useful and very specific - but nowhere near as significant as the already identified factors such as age, co-morbidities and obesity.

P. Bastard's AAB-IFN Covid study is pretty definitive and hugely helpful as it measured exacly this. A figure of 10% of the most ill were forund to have AABs.

As far as H5N1 goes - there are updates posted here frequently. Fruits is our Monkeypox and avian flu correspondent. I find nothing new to add to the debate in your links. We know the scientific community is increasingly concerned. We know that heretofore global pandemic preparedness has been a slow starter. WHO announced 4 days ago that it has finally reached agreement to DRAFT proposals - for an eventual treaty and H5N1 will hopefully speed all of this up, but the reality is that the promises made as the pandemic was coming to an end have largely been empty.

What happens now ? EU puts in an order for vaccines - UK says its keeping an eye on it - FDA orders vaxes and prepares to offer to farm workers and increases support for new development of vaxes - including of course mRNA. (Moderna's is under starters orders) And in terms of therapeutics NIH confirms that oseltamivir works well and is supporting partners

Whatever happens SNG still needs to pass its P2s AND a P3 to get anywhere near being a player in future pandemic preparation. If the world was happy to ignore a drug which demonstrated 79% improvement at a time when there were no vaccines and just Remdes and Dexa for those in hospital. When 7 million were dying across the world. Then it will keep looking away now, regardless of what our hopes might be.

Doc83 is almost certsainly right that the delay is nothing to do with NDAs - but all about the auditors. They're scratching around to keep the lights on.

Isn't it clear by now that they either have funds to stay in business for another year - or to run their trials. Not both. Spacman was right when he first posted this several months ago. The continuing P2 delay might be attributable to the 'subject to' clauses in the September interim ( although not regulatory approval) in my opinion ) but the late announcement of full year results and AGM can only be because of financials.

At the very least they should have informed us as soon as they knew for certain that they were going to miss the H1 trial deadline - which all of us now expect to be the reality.

Beyond all this we must now hope for a partnership to fund the P2s and take drug forward. The quality of that deal and what it leaves for LTIs will be entirely dependent on the quality of the work that's been done to identify the patient cohort. If they are telling BP a really good story - and that does not mean repeating the old variant agnostic tale - then there's a chance we get something back and the company continues into the future with some control
