Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
The structure of the deal meant PIs got virtually nothing anyway.
This is a high risk/reward share. The decision of the shareholders to vote down reflected that. If you’ve held this, you’re doing so for a good return, not the security of a few shavings of 1P and jam tomorrow.
There was no way that offer was ever being accepted. £100m cash, probably
I’m wondering, even if the PIs revolt, aren’t most of our shares held by the mystery bidder and a ton of private equity?
I reckon they know it will pass because they know we’re outnumbers.
Feels pretty rough to be given the square root of f all.
I remember I think one of the BRICs fund managers cutting Russian exposure as he said that it’s crooked and you can’t make money there.
I wish I’d listened. If I think of all the other places I could have invested…..just so you know RY, I’m a regular guy with a young family, we needed that money, and all I needed was 5-6p just to get roughly even.
Instead, YOU are keeping it for your salary. After I’ve already paid it for 11 years.
I say, to hell with them.
Forgive me, but aren’t deals usually done like this? Low ball offer and then the full £105m may be found if we vote No?
Question is, what is RY doing accepting this? It does very much seem like it’s to benefit the BOD and not us, in which case, they can pogo on it.
Shadowless - sorry! I forgot to add
“We are pleased to report a significant find which we hope to update shareholders on in due course. We also update on the issue of 30T ordinary shares at a nominal value of 0.2p”
Shadowless - if Robin found a herd of woolly mammoths who had survived the last Aeon in a remote part of Kun Manie ice skating while offering humanity the lost secrets of Atlantis and tablets left by aliens spelling out the meaning of life, we would probably get an RNS in 2025 about a “significant find that we hope to update you on further in the coming months” and then we’d never hear another word.
TDT - Go on social media and write something against the political orthodoxy in the west. You will have a knock on your door from the police and lose your job quicker than you can say “free speech has responsibilities”
You are fine to criticise politicians here. You don’t share the same freedoms on other topics. Touch an issue of identity, history etc with the wrong narrative and you’ll see just how liberal this country is.
Our online information is now being regulated by government approved fact checkers. I’m not sure whether you’ve noticed all this going on, the last 5 years the mask has fallen off one side of the debate who have very much decided that their political orthodoxy is to be enforced.
I doubt you could hold a basic Christian view of morality without losing your job. Try sticking some views about how you approve of traditional family values and see how long it takes for censure and reprocessions.
Interestingly this is actually what VP has referenced in speeches.
There is a danger here that we get drawn into a them/us, good and bad dynamic, so I want to be clear: it’s a mixed bag in terms or freedoms in the west compared with the east.
I am just not getting drawn in to providing support For yet another war, economic cost of sanctions, and a little characture of a bond Villain on the tellybox isn’t going to convince me.
Essentially I believe the world powers are all as bad as one another, and I certainly don’t believe we are the “good guys” as our track record in the last 75 years is probably the worst of all.
True MD, but let’s be honest, given your age you’re a legacy media consumer and probably haven’t cottoned on to how it works yet. There’s a range of media sources by people on the ground now, bypassing the toilet paper, and I’d recommend you have a look.
TDT - not one of the wars the U.K. has been involved post WW2 has been within 1000 miles of our border. They are wars for global influence. If you think the 250k dead and the utter basket case of Iraq was justified then God help you.
As for every BB having one, let’s be fair, all you guys do is repost what you read in the paper so I’m quite pleased to be the one who doesn’t just reprint articles and think it gets you the nod on truth because there’s a logo at the top of the page you read it from.
As I’ve said, the Russians and Chinese have their own narratives. I guess you’re just lucky to live in the one state which prints the truth. Amazingly coincidental, you have to be overjoyed about that!
Lastly MD, I take any reports of Russian atrocities or footage with the same punch of salt as it’s the same people who told us about the super gun, WMD deployed on London in 45 minutes etc. For gods sake man don’t you remember all that? They’re full of shyt.
I’m also non interventionist and I don’t think we have any business in this war. Given there is no moral position over “2 super powers arguing” then the only people I care about are the innocent people of Ukraine. Particularly the men, who have been discriminated against and forced to fight with the threat of a bullet.
MD - it’s a conflict in Eastern Europe about whether (largely) Germany and America or Russia have access to the vast mineral, oil and strategic advantage of the Ukraine.
Nothing new, it’s been going on for millennia.
It’s absolutely clear that the western media are taking a particular side and you may have forgotten the decades of falsehoods and horse shyt they’ve fed us to justify wars and invasions before. I haven’t forgotten, but it seem most people have once they have a cartoon villain to have a 2 minute hate on.
War is a terrible thing. Just be aware that the Vietnamese had TV bulletins of US atrocities. The british had reports of German and Japanese atrocities. However, you never get to see the atrocities your own side are culpable for.
This is very palatable. Everyone wants to think they’re the good guys. I’m sure the Russians have seen reports of atrocities against their people for many years now.
So, where does the truth lie? Well, all I can say is that if you’re basing it on the publications in your own language and country alone, it’s very much akin to how the religious always believe their own faith because they’ve had it their whole lives, and don’t question that it might be their own conditioning.
Every time I turn on the media now I don’t look at it as any semblance of truth. It’s the truth that those who write it are prepared to show and omits all the truths which they aren’t willing to.
In summary, if you don’t view what you read in the papers with extreme scrutiny then you’re doing it wrong.
This is very QANON.
Just so you know, there’s a famous forum called 4chan, and this houses the worst and the weirdest on the net, but what it’s famed for, it’s number one association, is with elaborate hoaxes and pranks and trolling.
So anyway, on 4chan this guy comes on with coded messages saying he’s in the secret service and makes a load of predictions, none of which have materialised. One interesting one is that JFK Jnr didn’t die and will return once the pedo ring of crooked democrats are exposed.
Now, I’m not actually a democrat, I’m on the right politically, but it’s hilarious seeing so many republicans lap up this nonsense. It’s like a whole movement.
….and it’s from 4chan, the home of trolling and hoaxes on the internet. The mind really boggles at how anyone can buy that.
What does any of this have to do with AMC?
You all know me on here as someone who is very critical of mainstream narratives, but Paul, please, knock it off a little bit mate as you’re giving reasonable conspiracy nuts like me a bad name!
TDT - I’ve only visited Russia twice so can’t comment fully, but the family I lived with were doing OK.
The main issue living here in the west, is that’s becoming wealthy for the middle class is a distant dream, because approximately half of your income is permanently removed, to support others.
To answer the question, if I was a low skilled and low aspiration person Id stay in the west. This is why much of the worlds poor want to come here.
If I was someone qualified at something with the ability to sell my skills to others, I’m not sure.
My other half’s uncles are about my age and my pay grade, and they live in a developing country, and they own multiple properties and have servants. Whereas I will be busting my gut until I’m 65.
I think the west is a great place for most people, the masses. If you’re skilled in the west, you’re a cash cow for others essentially. Hence I want to FO at the first opportunity.
Russia may well have low GDP compared to NYC, but they aren’t completely debt saddled like the west.
If you want to see real poverty and inequality, take a look at our “friends and partners” in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia for example. No democracy. Complete autocracy. Friends and allies.
Not a peep on this. Turns out the whole “freedom and democracy” thing is selective.
