2pcac: Imagine if Wales achieved full independence from the U.K., and then agreed to join the Russian or Chinese defence alliance, which would involve bases of Chinese, intelligence ops, missiles, and any confrontation between Wales and the rest of the U.K. would result with confrontation with Russia and China.
Previous Wales was neutral, but decided to enact this policy.
Would the prevailing narrative be “Well, Wales are a sovereign nation…etc” or would the media be choc full of the threats of a hostile neighbour just over the hills?
TDT “ EU and the freedoms, rules based system, democracy, freedom of movement and prosperity that comes with that”
EU just banned RT
EU making plans to ban anonymous BTC transactions.
Every vote progressing EU integration which failed was run again until it lost.
EU installed a governer in Greece. Look at that situation for goodness sake. They actively removed democracy there, didn’t they?
Southern Europe has huge unemployment at the expense of Germany.
EU fanaticism at its worst.
I’m glad we’re out.
Forest Gump, Germany has been on the March since the wall came down. This is nothing different. Russia and Germany arguing over who controls the states in between. Hence I’m pretty agnostic. I have absolutely no dog in this fight and have no interest in using British money to expand the scope of Germany.
It would have been much easier if Ukraine just remained neutral. As they were before, but as they insist on NATO and EU membership, and as has already been said, joining a bloc hostile to their next door neighbours with associated military bases, then there will not be peace.
Bakeryfish, you are big on platitudes but light on detail. We’ve explained very clearly why we’ve taken a more even handed approach to our view on this. You’ve merely just tried to attach shame to any position other than your own, which isn’t convincing anyone.
Let’s hope these talks are successful. Most have condemned Russia. Others can kind of see where they’re at given Ukraine’s intention to put enemy missile bases and intelligence directly on their border.
Whatever the view, all war is to be avoided at nearly all costs.
Hoping now given that Russia has not yet taken Kiev, they can offer the west Ukrainians a sense of pride intact, it’s very important with any conflict to not injure the pride of one party as they will come back to bite you. We learned that after Versailles.
Zelensky can say the Russians couldn’t defeat Ukraine whilst agreeing to remain neutral rather than allied to nato, Russia can go home with what they wanted.
“Over the course of the past several months, we have witnessed an escalation of anti-Russian hysteria in the British media, a targeted shaping of the image of an aggressive Russia in the eyes of the British public and international community”
It’s not just the last few months. It’s been going on for a while.
15-20 years ago it was all about Islamic countries. In the 80s it was Libya. Now it’s Russia and China.
All nations get into conflict and the press drops some narratives to help them the public look favourably on why killing a few of them isn’t a bad thing, the public then rewrite what they’ve read as their own opinion. I expect the Russians are doing this too. The only reason I’m not buying what we are selling is the specific history of that region, it’s proximity to Russia and I also have a lot of history with that part of the world and I understand their side.
Having been a LTH I doubt anything will happen for 6 months. I get the feeling we got pumped so the warrant holders could dump all their warrants and now they are back to doing nothing.
Think of the money that times article and RNS made for them.
If what you suspect is correct, then it stands to reason you believe the board is complicit.
RY issued that RNS. He earns a massive salary, if I was him, I wouldn’t mess around doing fairly public pump and dumps involving the Times. What’s he on, 300k plus expenses? Wrong end of his career?
I’d be surprised if he would risk possible criminal investigations and when he can sit back earning a massive salary for what appears to be not a great deal of work.
Calling this a 20BN or whatever asset is like buying a field and saying it’s a site for a new champions league winning team! All the new owner needs to do is build a ground, invest billions, climb the leagues and hey presto!
