One would hope so, they appear pretty confident......... Triassic, Reservoirs of Triassic age are developed in the area. These are characterised as carbonates

with interbedded clastics. Prospective Resource estimates for two Triassic reservoirs (TR1

and TR3) are reported for the Prospect. GaffneyCline has been unable to identify the rationale

for two separate reservoirs and considers a single reservoir interval in this evaluation. No oil

production from the Triassic reservoir is reported in the area. However, oil has been recovered

from a core cut in the Triassic in well WSH-4 and the Triassic reservoir flowed oil in the SH-1

well. GaffneyCline considers the Triassic reservoir to be a secondary target.

The main reservoirs of the West Shalva (Black Turtle) Prospect are the Jurassic IX and XI

reservoirs. These are of Middle Jurassic (Bathonian / Bajocian) age and are productive in the

nearby Shalva and Zhalganoy Fields. Reservoir quality is moderate and the analogue

reservoir parameters from the analysis of wells in nearby fields have been used to condition

GaffneyCline’s volumetric estimates. The Middle Jurassic is proven in offset fields and is the

primary objective of the West Shalva Prospect.

And it is expected to be a high quality 37-38 api, An API gravity of 37-38 means it is classified as a desirable light crude oil (light crude oil is higher than 31.1°). This type of oil is generally considered good because it yields more high-value products like gasoline and diesel during the refining process and typically commands a higher market price.

Good evening CASPers, well that was a bit of a glum day, certainly looked like someone selling off 100k/200k chunks, I guess he/she made the new year a time for change, IMO there is just too much news to come out very soon to even remotely think of selling anything, this time around I have even kept my pre suspension shares, there are going to be some big RNSs hitting soon, good or bad who knows but what I do know is that CASP are in a very good place right now

There are five different taxes that apply to Kazakh oil & gas producers. Each has its own basis of calculation with some being related to profits, others by reference to international oil prices and yet others by reference to the volume of oil sold. The overall impact is that as international prices increase so typically does the percentage taken by the Kazakh state. RNS1/12/2025

Licensing

Exploration licences

The initial licence to develop a field is an exploration licence where the focus is on completing agreed work programmes. Exploration licences are typically two years in duration and it is usual for there to be several consecutive two-year exploration licence extensions agreed during the exploration phase.

Appraisal licences

In the event the project appears commercial, the exploration licence is typically upgraded to an appraisal licence.Under an appraisal licence, oil produced incidentally while exploring and assessing may be sold but only at domestic prices. Taxation under an appraisal licence is limited with only modest deductions. Changes to the legislation in the last few years have reduced the length of appraisal licences from six to five years, with a concession of reduced social obligation payments.

Full production licences

To sell oil by reference to world prices requires that either the Contract Area as a whole or a particular structure has to be upgraded to a full production licence. Under a full production licence there is only limited scope to develop areas not already drilled. Additionally, a significant minority portion of production typically remains at domestic prices although the majority can be sold by reference to international prices.

I guess they have got the licence to 2027 and are now waiting for the approval, doing it the other way around may have caused rather a delay in operations
