Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
I am putting my money where my mouth is and just purchased another 20k worth. I was hoping to buy yesterday but the priced bounced back from the unbelievably low 17.50 before I had a chance. Still, as we all know it is virtually impossible to buy at the lowest & then sell at the highest.
It is busy in my work with Ocado buying more stock from my Co than ever. But the homegrown market is not where the value is
The huge opportunity as Valueplay & other visionaries oft reminds us is in OCDO's tech. The last fire has only strengthened this as they now know where their limits are in the CFCs. If I was selling this great technology I would use these perceived past negatives to impress how bright the Future really is for any company buying it. The bottom line is that I expect a new contract or partnership to be announced any week now, which is a further reason I've topped up & will some more if SP goes below 18.
ST reports supermarkets & other food outlets eg KFC are unable to hire more prisoners to work meaning empty shelves. Although OCDO may be short of a few drivers it hasn't affected our deliveries or friends. I realise the UK is small beer in the scheme of things, but it's a great morale booster that OCDO will be heading the charge again in feeding it's customers.
Also thanks to Ocado et al we had our busiest month ever in July & Aug OCDO sales so far above average with a marked increase over other supermarket which tells me that the conjecture that online deliveries would slow down has not materialised.
Happy Monday:)
Ocado employee review: Growing company with a caring attitude towards staff. Lots of opportunities for promotion and good entry level jobs, too. Good training programme to help you further your career with Ocado and a strong graduate training scheme too. Lots of different skills called for, so there's a niche for every kind of person in the Ocado family. Friendly co-workers. 25 year contracts. Fast-paced & compulsory
overtime, which seemed to suit the author.
My Cora shares are up over 20% this week which has dwarfed my losses here.
Got back late last night from hols in Somerset & OCDO duly delivered the cereal this morning on time without any substitutions
TGIF! Wishing all my unfiltered fellows a wonderful weekend:)
Sorry to use such foul language towards NH - 'excessive negative chatter' could've been better. I want to maintain a positive outlook.
At least he went out with the best post I've witnessed lol
So busy & distracted today I missed buying another tranche of CORA at the price I wanted. Still I am grateful that I've a portfolio, a family & a roof over our heads. And lets not forget groceries delivered to our doors!
Interesting that the majority of analysts recommend buying OCDO & 1 even outperform!
Ocado bought proportionally more of our products last week than any other supermarket.. I can feel another tentative purchase coming on
How do I block people's excretive noise when they don't even own any shares? lol
Over half of Ocado's products are recyclable according to Which, which I believe is more than any other UK supermarket. My Co goes to great lengths to protect the planet & this was one of the main reasons we wanted them selling incognito® as all of our biocide packaging is sustainable-source sugarcane. (Apart from being easily recycled This plastic absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere!) Green credentials like this & EVs are becoming an increasingly important factor because of the latest climate change reports.
There's a lot of negativity surrounding OCDO with many selling their shares (If they ever owned any in the first place!) like sheep, albeit the fundamentals are good. It never ceases to amaze me how short-sighted sheep can be.
I sold half my holding around 2800 releasing a tidy profit. I've since reinvested it all back in because at these prices it represents great value.
Another share I stumbled across recently is CORA gold which has already made me money. It dipped a bit yesterday probably because of the gold volatility so I might buy a few more. I'd be interested to hear what more experienced investors have to say.
I bought at 12.5 & might be tempted to buy more, but gold is so volatile right now: I've noticed all gold stocks down and I'm glad I got rid of all mine near the peak. Even a broken clock gets lucky twice a day lol
I've been meaning to post for awhile after the ash settled at Erith. As a supplier/investor I'm impressed with logistical organisation after the fire which saw inbound deliveries start again on July 26 and full capability this week.
As I said in a previous post Ocado CFC's were pushed to their limits partly because demand hadn't diminished coming out of lockdown, contrary to analysts & media speculation. My company was supplying twice the amount of product yoy last month and this is still increasing in August.
The really interesting facts for me as an investor is that the latest robotic software update can be demonstrated to safely fulfil for any partner. I used to run a QA\QC lab and the way we learnt was mistakes: it's mind-boggling to my scientific brain how OCDO has managed to become one of 2 world leaders in the AI software. The Grocer illustrates this well, apologies if this has already been posted https://www.thegrocer.co.uk/ocado/why-ocados-third-fire-in-three-years-is-actually-good-news/658270.article My thinking is that any potential new contracts will only be positively affected by these mistakes: you only know where the limits are by going there!
If I wasn't already overweight buying all the way down I'd definitely purchase more shares as I believe they will more than bounce back by the end of this year. Indeed I expect another new contract to be announced in September NB this is my gut instinct only!
I agree with you VP as it's the second fire at a CFC It doesn't completely shock me as it's a very hot day today. This now gives them an opportunity to ensure no more robots burn or at least install increased sprinkler or other systems to put them out. Ironically IMO the reason the robots are overheated is because they are working so hard! The additional CFC's are not all online. This puts paid to the theory that sales are slowing down. As a supplier to Ocado I can tell you that they've ordered twice the amount of stock so far this month yoy. I am sure they will receive some sore of insurance payout.
If I'd had the chance I would've bought more shares today, but the market already closed. However, any further dips on Monday will ensure I am in like flint!
Wishing you all a worry free hot weekend
I recently surmised that they had a contract in the bag with the explanation that until it is signed they cannot afford any leak. I mention this not to gloat but to point out that they probably have more contracts in the pipeline possibly connected to the Auchan deal.
It was always on the cards that UK grocery sales were going to be lower though as they are a growing software/tech company it doesn't much matter IMO if UK sales are down, indeed I would expect it, unless there is another lockdown.
Thank you for the welcome. I always value your posts: in fact everyone in this thread has something interesting to say IMHO!
I do find the tech side of the business fascinating an I wonder if anybody knows whether Amazon's or Ocado's CFCs are superior or the difference - surely this would be a large consideration for any potential bidder/large investor?
Although the travel market is slow to restart the UK weather is now ideal for biting & stinging insects to breed which is keeping us busy to protect people here!
I totally agree with you Mr Hold I've never met such a cheery bunch! It's the same at their HQ, everybody happy from the receptionists to the buyers. My company supplies Ocado and what I've noticed during the pandemic is they're not only running a tighter ship, but in cases of hardship (ie my company manufactures for travellers), the company has been compassionate & not held us to the promotional spend. These are some of the reasons I've been buying stock all the way down to 1848 as in my mind it was only a matter of time before it climbs over 2000 again
