Amazon has 2 compelling reasons to acquire Ocado
1. It’s tech is superior
2. It would leapfrog its retail aspirations
I bought heavy into their robotics cutting edge technology. I’ve lost a packet on Ocado shares I’d be more than happy with recouping my original investment. Fortunately I believe Tim would not sell below £2
I do feel vindicated that Amazon & others would make a bid. At the time it was dismissed that Amazon would want to.
Either way the shares are set to rise to £2 IMHO at least! Let’s see…
Like others I'm sharing my pain. I made £12.5k & then bought all the way down to 1600s lost £30k recently. Feckin ****ed off! Meanwhile OCDO trying to sell my Co advertising.
Brave balls peeps that buy now!
73% of private investors lose £ investing... and much. time wasted. Given the virtually the rest of my pension funds to Eden to manage who I'm sure will doi a better job than I. Pure gambling on my part in hindsight
This unique to OCDO tool is helping suppliers like us efficiently increase business through the platform. I'm happy to say that our business has doubled to Ocado since using this program. I would imagine it has helped to grow turnover considerably.
I'm really confounded by the low SP!?
The 15 analysts offering 12 month price targets for Ocado Group PLC have a median target of 2,100.00, with a high estimate of 3,460.00 and a low estimate of 870.00. The median estimate represents a 14.82% increase from the last price of 1,829.00.
OCDO even more attractive to M&S now
It appears to me that the market didn't take kindly to Autostore's statement containing significant litigation costs re Ocado.
However, if this is the case why isn't it appreciated that the huge size of the market isn't factored in? "..USD 230 billion addressable market for automated storage and retrieval systems"
The SP is still a strong buy IMO with M&S chewing over the other half of retail
As I was so overweight I sold 20% of my holding near the top on Friday as I needed the cash, however with so much positive news I truly believe that the SP is offers tremendous value. I expect another rise this week. Especially as more EU lockdowns are happening https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-11-19/europe-resorts-to-lockdowns-once-more-as-covid-infections-surge
I've been recommending OCDO to friends & other investors during the dip. Onwards & upwards
They also positively purchase the greenest brands where possible which adds to their own carbon capture eg https://www.lessmosquito.com/sustainability
I met the CEO of the battery maker for the carts who talked about the spark that started the fire earlier on this year & he said it was highly unlikely this could happen again. A few analysts downgraded OCDO presumably because of the tech failing in the future but this isn't justified now it's fixed
OCDO placed another big order with us today so they're obviously shifting a lot of product. I expect they'll experience a record xmas as they seem to have enough drivers!
Also most of the trades today are buyers which doesn't surprise me at such a low SP
@Chilting I don't understand why a big player wouldn't make an offer based on the cutting-edge tech alone?
Another contract at xmas won't go amis either.
Thanks for the feedback. It's definitely my most interesting shareholding!
I am kicking myself for not buying TESLA - I've got the new model on order - after SP shooting up last week. As TSLA is to cars OCDO is to supermarkets..
Warren Buffet says not to go with the herd & on that basis alone it's a good time to buy.
Speaking as a successful inventor, what most analysts & people don't realise is provided it isn't a terminal fail, is that it is the failures & mistakes that enable fine tuning the tech - what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Therefore, the 2 fires were a huge learning experience which will result in new contracts: many are in the pipeline.
Furthermore Fortress along with other overseas raiders must see OCDO as a ripe target, which I don't think will attract UK competition authorities. If I wasn't overweight I would definitely top up again as like all of us that are longterm investors we feel the best is yet to come.
I've seen this happen more than once so maybe...
I stand corrected from you VP & Chilting: makes sense. I've a feeling in my waters that a bid from somewhere will occur, but the Aiutostore debacle will probably need to be sorted first
Thank you for sharing. I wondered what all the purple was about!
good delivery slots harder to get right now which means a spike because of the driver/fuel issues. Fortunately OCDO use a lot of electric vans so the latter isn't an issue
Great thread! Personally I like to sell a proportion short term up to half my shares and keep the rest long term. I will top up again if SP dips to £16.50 then take some profit around the 21 mark which seems to be the ceiling... Although I'm currently overweight overall I am still in profit.
Thoroughly agree with VP & others that there are indeed so many opportunities for O to shoot up at any time.
Like the market as a whole it is a volatile share however 8 out of 12 brokers recommend buying, Morgan Stanley forecasts SP 2800 & says to go overweight, which I am because it represents great value. Just over a month ago only 6 out of 12 brokers said buy
Been very busy today & didn't manage to check any investments otherwise I'd definitely topped up at 1650 Still I will go overweight tomorrow. The more it dips the more I will buy! I see some wise souls bought over 13m in the space of a few minutes: one trade was for 11m!
All the fundamentals are good & it will only take another Int contract for SP to shoot up again IMO. I still wouldn't be surprised if this happened by the end of this month. Time will tell.
I hadn't thought of the Japanese earthquake scenario, which their world class bullet trains are equipped to deal with. I do see Ocado as a winning F1 team that has experienced a few crashes so that they can win more! As I said earlier there's a contract around the bend IMO
Do you think that the lower the SP the higher the chance of a takeover?
Also surprised that my 20k purchase didn't show on Share Trades!? I thought the SP would go down a bit more but I was meeting Boots: who are run nowhere near as efficiently as OCDO lol
