Read an article last night where illness is rife in Bangladesh because of climate change heat 🙄…..yea I know,poor old Bangladesh is renowned for its moderate climate….not!!….what I’m getting at is the energy ministry earlier this year obsessively clamped down on air con use because it’s draining the grid,so in some ways he has blood on his hands for increasing the suffering of these poor people,the air con is probably one of the few luxuries they have…….he should be sorting the root of the problem,infrastructure and energy supply…..the country is shattered,and what’s Fouzel been doing this week?bloody negotiating with students……these poor buggers use abou 600kw of lecky per capita a year,imagine if the country ever gets developed 170mln people and rising requiring 5x that amount like the UK…….

It was predicted,this will get messier as we near the end of the year….

China is providing Bangladesh with 20 free meter-gauge diesel-electric locomotives under a $129.54 million (Tk 1,591 crore) grant to ease Bangladesh Railway’s long-running engine crisis. The Ministry of Railways has already submitted the project proposal titled “Procurement of 20 Meter-Gauge Diesel Electric Locomotives under China Grant” to the ERD and Planning Commission, with fast-track approval underway. The project, estimated at Tk 1,635 crore in total, will begin in January 2026 and finish by December 2027. Besides locomotives, it includes spare parts, tools, and training for Bangladeshi engineers and mechanics to ensure technology transfer. Currently, Bangladesh Railway operates 306 locomotives (174 meter-gauge, 132 broad-gauge). Alarmingly, 71% of meter-gauge engines have exceeded their design lifespan, with many over 30–40 years old. Frequent breakdowns, outdated parts, and rising maintenance costs severely disrupt services. Officials warn that without urgent replacements, some eastern routes may shut down entirely. The 20 Chinese locomotives are expected to reduce maintenance costs, fuel use, and delays, while enabling new passenger and freight services. Experts, however, caution that larger long-term investment is essential, as the majority of meter-gauge engines remain beyond service life."

That’s very positive but I’m still clinging to the Chinese stalling till Phulbari is tied in confirmation….the Bangladesh outlet in August said it would start in January but this article says-technicians will be working on the project and it’s viability at the end of the year…..viability imho is the addition confirmation of phulbari and these green cuckoos won’t make that decision hence China stalling till early February…..??……

It will happen for certain but the Chinese want the big mackerel phulbari and the sprat Teesta
