Revolutionary steps to increase training, research and capacity in the fuel sector: BPI's memorandum of agreement with five top organizations
Dhaka, 18 October 2025
The Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with five reputed institutions as a historic step for collaboration in training, research, education and technical development in the fuel and mineral resources sector of Bangladesh. The agreement titled “Cooperation in Energy Research and Capacity Building” was signed today, Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the BPI headquarters.
The institutions associated with the BPI through this memorandum are: Department of Geology and Mining, University of Rajshahi, Institute of Mining, Mineralogy and Metallurgy, BCSIR, Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineering (PMRE), BUET, Bangladesh, Gas & Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla), and CodersTrust Limited. This multifunctional collaboration will play a crucial role in enhancing the essential human resource and technical capabilities for the country's fuel security and sustainable development.
Honorable Secretary of Fuel and Mineral Resources Department Mohammad Saiful Islam was present as the chief guest at the program. Honorable Chairman of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Secretary of Government Md. Amin Ul Ahsan was present as a special guest. Director General of BPI Khenchan presided over the program and signed the memorandum of agreement in favor of BPI.
Professor Dr. Younus Ahmed Khan, Chairman of Geology and Mineral Department of Rajshahi University; CEO of Coderstrust Limited, MD SHAMSUL HAQUE; Member of BCSIR Mr. Abul Fatah Md. Baligur Rahman; Professor of PMRE Department of BUET and Departmental Head Mr. Dr. Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman; and Secretary & Senior GM of PetroBangla Mr. Md. Amjad Hossain signed in favor of their own organization.
Signatures hope the joint initiative will unveil a new horizon in research and training in the fuel and mineral sectors. This combination of educational institutions, research institutions and industry institutions will have a long-term positive impact on the discovering, lifting, and creating efficient manforce in the country.
