There is no discernible bottom given the prospect of a trade war. It remains to be seen who blinks first but I doubt that it will be Trump given his self evident ignorance/arrogance. The Chinese will not want to lose face so an early resolution looks unlikely.

We'll do well to finish in the green today. If I had any hair left I'd be pulling it out.

It is a reasonable assumption that Paul Singer of Elliott has high level contacts with leaders of the US oil industry. Furthermore it is unlikely that he would invest billions of dollars of what is effectively his own money in a project where the end result was not foreseen.

His track record indicates that he is a patient and very determined individual so i remain optimistic that his plans for BP will come to fruition.

What that will produce for us long suffering shareholders remains to be seen.
