Always good to hear about things like this. However, it does not mean a lot to me e.g. is it hard to get accepted, how many other competitors have it, how big is the pool of potential clients (given Trakm8 already deal with councils).

The AA reported today and by all accounts they are broadly positive about their use of Smart Breakdown in both the breakdown and insurance context.

You make an interesting point about the CBILS scheme which I admit I did not see. Arguably they did a similar thing with the growth loan (same debt as last year but one assumes that the nature of the government backed scheme would be on better terms). Obviously, I would prefer them to be debt free but that is wishful thinking at the moment.

I'm sure they know what they are doing and it may be the best of a selection of bad things but these are unprecedented times. I think the industry, as a whole, is reacting in a similar fashion and I am sure you would be the first to complain if they were doing nothing.

Personally, I think will not be expensive - what is the upfront cost of posting a dongle to a client, and adding it to their system (mainly automated I guess).

Fair point. As for Trakm8 - 17.2% down at the moment - seems a little overdone :(

Thanks, I hope you are right about the volume. I think that dividing revenue by registered devices is too coarse because fleet brings in more per device than insurance. Although both of these numbers may have been decimated over recent times as competition eats itself.

Hi Nosugar, two questions..... I know it is an estimate but what information are you basing it on. Second, 2K a month sounds good, what do you think the margin is for Trakm8?

I tend to agree with you that consolidation in this market needs to happen and so merging these two companies would be an obvious start (if Microlise want the burden of a manufacturing company)

Ultimately the AA will benefit from this technology, be it resource allocation for their breakdown cover, disclaimer stuff (i.e. you should have got it fixed) or from an insurance perspective. If they can't sell it they would have to consider whether these and other benefits outweigh the cost of giving it away. How would Trakm8 be negatively affected by that? The only negative is that they stop using such technology and I cannot see that (ok, they may move away from Trakm8).

I don't think there will be much news until after the deal is signed. I am hoping they will attempt to reassure the market that their long term future is now assured. Also on my santa list would be a contract announcement with Microlise to underpin the deal but that is probably a wish too far.

agreed on all of your points..... I think you and I are in a similar position where the percentage loss is already so great that it doesn't really matter if it did go belly up - obviously it would be better if it didn't. Whilst I do not necessarily trust the BOD I do believe that it is a great company offering some great products. I am not sure why they need to manufacture though.....

KBYK - I take it all back, if you believe the other forum Trakm8 has already gone down the pan (we are just waiting for the RNS to confirm it). There is even a property investor (I know you know this but for the benefit of others) that states, and I have no reason not to believe him, that he pulled out of buying a fixed property asset because of the share price collapse (not because it failed proper due diligence).

Yes, that large trade yesterday intrigues me and it would be good to get some information via an RNS of what it relates to. I was surprised we did not see something this morning.

It is not all doom over on the ADVFN board, just a couple of vocal bears who I suspect have no better idea of what is going on than you or me - I think the LTHs are waiting to find out what is happening. As far as I can tell the facts are a massive share price drop after a profit warning, no nasty RNS and no major changes in share ownership that have triggered holdings RNS (which I admit does surprise me). Sounds like business as usual to me (which is what I said yesterday on that very board). Yes, there is a risk of failure but that is true of all companies.

Whilst not an indicator of business success, I spoke to Trakm8 support yesterday - first, they chased me (normally support tickets of different companies close after no response and I was trying to avoid answering their call as I had not done what they had asked), they were professional and the background noise made it sound like they were busy (a good or bad thing, you decide).
