I get confused, was it a sell. It states it was a delayed publication (10:07) but did the transaction occur at 10:07 or was it delayed and reported at 10:07 (so a buy). Either way it does not seem to have negatively affected the share price.

I had to laugh when I read only 200K deferred when the bear case was at the other extreme.

Perhaps misguided, I took some comfort from seeing they still spent 4.1m on R&D. I guess some of that will come back in the form of a tax credit but for a company that is supposed to be gone by the end of the summer I wondered why they spent so much and shows a quick way to reduce costs IMO.

Read it how you like, my worst investment was getting married with my subsequent divorce forcing me to sell my very large holding of GB Group (GBG) at just over 10p - what are they now, around 700p.

However, these relationships (based on the InGenie quote) seem to be long standing i.e. not a switch away from Trakm8. I'd say it is just the nature of this business and, as you said, consolidation will occur.

I suspect H1 2020 will be a loss for two reasons i) COVID and ii) H1 is the weaker half. However, this could be the year of change because the insurance/connected car stuff has finally come online - I hope you are correct. As for JW's guidance, this will be critical in establishing if Trakm8 has finally got its act together. It needs to be a final year decent profit (and not the same amount as the last prediction else what is the point).

A bit of a ramble from me.....

Better people than me can interpret CalAmp's financial statement (search for Smart Driver Club) but it appears to suggest they were minor investors in SDC from 2017 and report their equity stake as a loss (we now know they eventually buy SDC and you can view this between taking advantage of their early insight or SDC needed saving). They also purchased Tracker (theft tracking company and closely aligned with CalAmp IMO) in 2019.

I believe this marks the end of the client relationship between Trakm8 and SDC. This is because CalAmp has its own stuff and has no need of Trakm8. However, it also shows they are looking at expanding into the UK.....I know what I am suggesting here but I am not hopeful, the reason being is the relationship with Penny Searles and SDC ended in February. If she still has a link I would be more optimistic.

Agreed, although I do hope that Smart Driver's club remains a client given the change of CEO etc. My gut feeling is Trakm8 upped their game to get Smart Breakdown done properly and the benefits will spill over to this type of client including ByMiles.

The company she was the CEO of (until Feb this year) was a client of Trakm8 so it is unlikely she was found by the new director. More likely, she has good internal links with the BOD and the timing was right for both parties.

Pianista, this is so true - I still can't work out what the Sean Morris RNS was really about. Any director share purchase is always welcome and the fact the new guy (Peter) has not is concerning.

Personally I think this is good news for all the post content before me. I do wonder if we are over thinking the LinkedIn statement - does a NED really have enough bandwidth to turn around companies in crisis? I could be wrong but I read the statement as two separate summarised facts given in two sentences. Irrespective, I think having her on board, a person with a lot of relevant experience, is a good thing for whatever reason she may have been appointed.

I'm not convinced they need cash. They have access to circa £2m based on the last trading update. Obviously, we do not know how much is deferred PAYE and VAT payments or when that stuff will need to be repaid but, assuming repayment is a while away, if they need more cash in the short term then we are in serious trouble especially if they successfully got the CBILS loan. All IMO.

Good find, although TL;DR. It appeared to confirm optimisation works but I must admit I was not sure if the article was trying to suggest that different hauliers work together (ignorance for the above TL;DR). Did like the way it promoted the insight optimisation product as free during the lockdown. If anyone wants to summarise it then I would be grateful.

I have mentioned this before (probably on the other forum) but I do wonder about all those £250ish buys that get recorded. It would obviously be the slowest stake building in history.

Do lots of people really buy £250 stakes when the dealing costs are 5% (based on £12.95 Halifax cost). I guess they do.

I agree it is priced for failure, I just can't see how given the AA is firmly behind Smart Breakdown. i.e. how does a company the size of the AA not see the risk and mitigate against it. Some may say that the AA can clean up when Trak folds (a fire sale) but that is likely to cause disruption both hardware and software. The new CEO of the AA seems very savvy to me and appears to have turned around the fortunes of the company. This seems risky to me.

I completely agree, given the negativity surrounding the company you would have to assume they furloughed as many people as they could get away with. One positive may be they are able to re-evaluate their staffing needs i.e. a 25% drop in staff does not imply a straight-line drop in activity. Perhaps they are just working better. Ok, I'm sure some would argue they only furloughed the minimum in order to keep up appearances.

I'm in it for the long term (or the end of summer if you believe some). This is priced for failure, especially when compared with QTX, but I remain optimistic. If the new director is a turn around expert then I hope we will see some of that - I have said it many times before (probably on the other site) but the directors are too greedy for the situation they are in. Hopefully, he will cull the BOD.
