it certainly would have been a better plan to pay the real debt down rather than chase the descending price, debts never good to carry around in a poor market.

as for me, well i was born to 16 year old parents, in a council house, no carpets until i was 14 years old and i decided at 16 that wasnt going to be me for my life. I worked hard, built a plumbing business while also doing paye job, worked 7 days a week for almost 20years. learnt money management, bought property, traded shares etc, and retired at 42 with 4 houses bought and paid for with a comfortable life. Few years later i got bored (am active person) so took up a similar paye job protecting public health to keep my mind active, i uphold safety regulations in a specialst field ( i can say no more on here). Parents are still togeather 50 years later as for me im currently fighting oesophageal cancer at 49. In short i think i can claim to have been there done it and got the t shirt.

Yes management could do more, no doubt, Mikey is not known for his softly softly approach and he has built a huge business employing thousands of satisfied staff by his effort and skill. And yes it is laziness and greed pure and simple on the pilots behalf, they are affecting so many other staff with their actions and if they thought about it are damaging their own future careers by damaging the business they work for.
if they dont like their terms and conditions of employment and the management wont change them, then either accept your lot or get off your backside and move employer. Hardly rocket science is it?. Companies are their soley to make profits and provide a service via their employees efforts and commitment - or lack of here, they are not charities to pander to a small bunch of peoples threats and purposefully created damage.

And yes i also understand that pilot training costs a lot to complete, so does most professional training, it is a cost you incur to pursue your career, if your not happy after parting with your cash, its realy simple, move employers or use the skills you have to move sector, alternatively open your eyes before joining somewhere your not going to be happy.

Anyway, im guessing by your ill thought out comments and attacks that you've experienced similar disharmony in your past, probably on the receiving end given the hostile attitude and stupidity you display, so have a coloured view and cannot see basic facts, i don't propose to interact with you further, i'll pop you in the filter bin and leave you to you happy little bubble. i work closely with Kiers, they are a contractor my company uses extensively and almost exclusively. Kiers are experts at cutting costs to the bone. The guys i work with are beasted to death for very poor wages, their plant and vehicles are generally battered and old and also flogged to death - but they employ some bl00dy fantastic hardworking long term people and are the best contractors ive worked with after 30years in my industry.

The margins they operate on are poor, like low cost airlines, and need improving, debt also needs lowering, but they always seem to come up smelling of roses. IMHO its a solid company and destined in time for much higher SP (but not £30-40). If i was Mr Kier, id be reducing the divi a little and paying off some debt. Not ramping, just saying what i see each working day.

whatever rayro. i suck up **** wages because i can afford to and love my job, i get off on providing a top quality public service rather than status to my customers. , im lucky through hard work over many years not to need to hold my employers or customers to ransom because im too lazy or greedy to better my own lot, and want everything handed me on a plate. If i didnt i would move roles - ive certainly held pretty senior positions and am capable of doing so. Maybe your hero pilots should do the same if they are not happy? They have a choice, like it or leave, does that not explain it to you in simple enough language.

Trumpys going to have every dodgy state putting a price on his head the way he's going if he keeps taking their economys to pieces. I do admire his determination and guts to do what he thinks is right though (even if its maybe not sometimes) got some balls that bloke.

i recon mikey should look at each base where people are striking, pick the pilot with the worse/most disruptive record and sack them immeadiately, next round ouf strikes do the same again. This should weed out the worst employees and concentrate the minds of others who remain. Its just not right that a few people can destroy peoples holidays with such action and consistantly get away with it while harming the company they work for.

Normally im a big fan of employment rights. I for example do the same technical job i have for years in a similar closed shop industry, and i earn 50% of what i was earning 15 years ago for a rival company. Obviously not ideal, but i signed up (having moved away from the first employer) and so have to suck up the ****ty wages as i now live in povity wage Cornwall. No different for those pilots, they signed up so have to suck up or change employer if they arent happy.

i worked it out a few week back, was about halfway through at that time, but Joe's ideas the way to go.
