yeah saw the BP shale purchase a while back, not quite sure of BP's motives with that myself, possibly just a 'coverall' purchase? I just cannot see oil dropping back much lower than 60-65 in the next few years though.

Of course the Two unkonwns with oil are always politics/war and the dubious major holders like Russia/Saudi not being exactly honest with what they do with quotas etc. The first normally triggers a fast spike and the second volatility in both directions. All a guessing game though i suppose, i think for now though both rdsb and bp look a little cheap IMHO.

One that confuses me at the moment (as a big holder) is why the oilies are down so much given the current oil price. Its only one dollar off the highs yet rdsb and bp are down around 10% from their highs - either a bargain or im missing something.

Intereting story on the bbc (no pun) regards an apparant shortage of airline pilots for china/asia. Some barmy figure of 240k extra pilots being needed in the future to keep up with demand.

i hold HHI's 18.19suggestion in high regard and do similar myself. Keep you eyes and ears open and look around on your everyday daily travels. If your local morrisons is generally empty, it tells me they aint selling much so avoid. if your local bookies is permamently rammed with idiots giving money away, keep an eye out and reaserch further etc.

Buy things that people need and cannot do without (pervesresly that includes stupid priced phones, dominos pizzas which always remain sort afternitems for poor people in poor times). These overpriced luxurarys are inherantly popular particularly with people who cannot afford them. You need fuel for cars, so a stablish long termer. Utilities i currently steer clear off due to the political landscape.

The best advice you will ever get is to only invest what you can afford to lose completely, so start off small, do NOT follow a herd (its too late most of the time) and get swept along with ramping.

Good luck, a very rewarding experience when you get it right, start off small and slowly.

yet reading the earlier dated 17 may RNS this one states they are still producing - they need to make their bloody minds up. The later one says they have ceased.

RNs dated 26th July says they have "ceased processing" to maintain capital discipline

i cant, but they have closed down production now and are no longer generating sales and have never disclosed how much they sold or generated. maybe they sold a lorry load or maybe they sold a biscuit tin full - nobody has any idea at all because of this enduring silence (why?). you need to face this fact, it is undisputable and obvious to everybody who views this company in an objective manner.

They are burning cash drilling, and the only source of monies that they have actually disclosed has been from placings, reducing the sp value to a fraction of what it once was, whilst keeping the income recieved a state secret, again why?, confidentiallity agreements is a poor excuse.

So with no production for some months, what is paying for the drilling and the outstanding water issue, more placings? it cant be sales as they are making none as they are not producing.

Optimism is great and i hope for a lot of investers here in neck deep following the terrible way the BOD have kept investors in the dark here (at best) such as Funky, that things eventually come good. But optimism needs tempering with a good old fashioned dose of reality and a much more transparent managerial approach, rather than just blind guesswork and unsubstantiated faith and fluff.
