Always keep a few quid back and readily availible just incase the taxman comes sniffing though is very sound advice.

just read the RNS. states that the company "will make a return of capital" on the blah blah blah.

for those not in the know. if the "dividend" is paid as "a return of capital" you do NOT need to account for it against your £2k dividend allowance. i.e. it can be omitted from your tax return, and you can use the whole £2k allowance against other shares income.

HL will show this on your platform dashboard differently to usual "dividend" income so its quite obvious. i dont know about other companies.

Have also heard stories, not checked it out myself, where im told that for each newbuild house given permission in an area the council receives a payment directly from the government for six years equivalent to the council tax due, on top of what they charge the occupier. i.e a nice incentive for a short term thinking council, which they all are, but building a bigger problem for the future.

Also legislation is in place to allow former high street commercial building to be converted to domestic dwellings with a simplified permissions structure, simply to reuse empty commercial space to house people. A very worthwhile idea, but not popular with developers as a lot of commercial buildings are complicated to convert/service. much easier for the lazy building companies to knock out standard mini boxes on a green field. In short the legislation is all there - its just not used. terrible realy, im glad im not a youngster trying to get on the ladder.

and Freyas answer is probably the very reason why they dont use the powers they currently have to force reoccupation.

stagecoach. local authorities already have the powers to force empty homes back into use, they just dont use them very often. Agree totally that many newly built ones would then be unneccasary.

i miss-read. earth moving contractor is being employed to clear the 'drilling tracks' rather than approach road as i stated. Sounds like a basic bit of rubble clearance that i Still think our machine could do simply enough. Why did the core drilling company make a mess on the 'drilling tracks' and then be permitted to leave it for someone else to clear up afterwards?

The water contractors on the pictures i saw, were hardly akin to your usual large proffesional looking contractor, a few scruffy looking blokes stood by an old truck in a variety of different clothing. As i say with such a minimal sized enterprise (albeighit with extensive land) your not likely to find a fully geared up team, from say Kiers being even remotely interested in tendering, but they certainly didnt look anything other than small fry too me - and what a stupid statement to make, do i recognise them! of course i dont, but i do recognise a decent professionaly geared up water contractor having been in the business for 30 years.

As i say, im critical here, maybe too much so, but with all the previous hype and unfounded optimism on this BB, the BS from Giles etc, and continuing silence and lack of concrete detail surrounding this company, then i think that is the best approach until things change. All my own opinion of course mind.

IMHO RNS doesnt give a lot of info, other than 165 cores completed. Although to hear anything makes a nice change.

RNS raises a few questions and observations for me. One question i would have is why these cores werent sent to be analysised/sampled/checked in batchs, using results to better target future core driling, rather than save them all up for months to check en bloc.

Interesting also they are now mentioning the pipeline, and propose to review the technical plans of the contractors that may or may not have submitted quotes/designs. Again no confirmation such as 'we are reviwing the five bids submitted with a view to placing an order soon'. They are light on detail here as usual, those quotes - if any have actually been given, would have been submitted some time ago, and there should be no need to have a "preferred bidder" process, delaying things further. This is a small tin pot mine with one excavator not some massive open cast pit and the photos of the contractors on site appear to show that they are also relatively small (although important) fry also, no need for 'big buisness' type of processess delaying something so important.

As you'll all no doubt know im a sceptic of this companys BOD due to the enduring silence over such a long time, and im only in here with a very small investment, which i have already written off, so i am clearly pessamistic in my outlooks, i try to remove the BS and view this more in simplistic terms, as i feel the poor information flow leaves no alternative other than blatant head in the sand guessing, of which there in inevitably too much of on here.

The one word in the RNS i realy dont like is "ultimately" which Larry quotes about the Jorc being completed.

This gives no clue at all as to whether this will be next week, next month, next year or never. This has been talked about for ages and ages now and still seems as close as the horizon.

Some big expenses also coming up soon then,
1 The 165 cores samples to be tested
2 The water pipeline once decided upon
3 The extra groundworks contractor now employed to clear the approach road (why not do this ourselves)

Lets hope there is no more fund rasing required. My wallet is closed.

just looked on the news tab, seems rya have cancelled 150 out of 400 flights within Germany this Wednesday owing to the pilots striking. Might get that sub 13 price afterall.

thats what i'll do mate, keep taking the divis, but it is a bit of a PITA being stuck in with big amounts. Am tempted to bung the cash into more oillies, i love the divi's there and the sp looks cheap to me, again cannot understand the sp decline of either rdsb or bp given the quite high oil price, certainly isnt due to currency fluctuations, so again sitting out for the moment may be the best option.

Sitting on a tidy pile of cash so could average down considerablly, but not that confident this is rising anytime quickly so am reluctant. Looks like it's a long hauler here for me.

back down the the 12/13 euro threshold again. Not having a lot of luck with these airlines at the moment are we, its about time a little common sense got involved here with the 'no flying in the future' cos of brexit rubbish. Cant see any other reason for these languishing at such levels.

hadnt thought of the tax return implications lol. That would make every householder in the area liable to complete a return for a poxy couple of quid. Quite silly. Easy enough if you do one already, but so many people are on rubbish hand to moutth incomes down here i bet the vast majority dont. A complicated system, much easier to just be straightforward and cut the bill - simplest ways are usually the best.

Im with HL and have 42000 of these in a mix of ISA and FS accounts, but am unable to check my account at the moment, would have expected the divi to not land till 27th?

It is a bit of a nonsense gimic isnt it. The only advantage i can see is that if it continued over, say a few years, people could accumulate a few quid in shares and maybe more reluctant to vote for having them taken off them by government. Water isnt a bad price down here - its the sewerage charges that are the real killer, they are truly obscene and when you look at the state of the sewerage works the 'we are investing' argument is clearly a lie.
