Infa Potentially Has A Great Future BUT.................25 Oct 2020 16:23
..................choppy seas and Low Pressure systems on the voyage persist !! So what's to be positive about :
1. We have a decent, compliant ,well-led and experienced Main Board and local Board ( at H&W ) The people and workforce at H&W seem so proud that the yard is busy and attracting constant work. There has been recently some excellent PR and if you can join and visit "The Yard" on Facebook then see what I mean .
2. JW certainly has shown that he not only has a gambling spirit for business but also a "Head for Heights "by entertaining the worthies on top of Goliath !!
3. We have two potentially profitable assets now on the books and H&W seems to be paying it's way so far
4. We have a decent mix of II's who have invested in the potential long term and stayed the course as far as we can tell .This was not the case 12 months ago
5. We have great vision per the Board with the Barrow FSRU project and Offshore Wind Farm fabrication at H&W and ,yes,
6. Despite all the shenanigans and goings on + delays we still have some faith in IM though if that one is Dead in the Water ( excuse the pun ) it would be best for the Board to continue to progress it via representations and good project management as the fundamentals still exist despite Climate Change activism.
7. Our tie up with Navantia has immense potential yet to be realised. The Board have worked wonders on this !!
And so to the negative side and why it's so important to take part and listen to the presentation on 10th November next :
1. We don't know the figures yet ( due soon though ) for H&W's performance but successfully dealing with some local Irish Sea Ferries and working wonders on Oceanex Connaigra may only mean a break even now that we have increased the workforce and set out to purchase updated fabrication and cutting equipment for the yard. What we need is for the Viking type Contacts to be confirmed soon .If the Government can support us with Export Credit type finance that will be a game changer .not sure why Viking Sea is still languishing in Trieste and Viking Sun is doing the same off Mukran ?
2. Appledore's revival ( and possibly that of Belfast too ) may well depend on new Naval contracts ..But as you see from the Sunday press today there is a a current battle between Rishy S and Bojo ( supported by Ben Wallace ) over the Autumn Defence Review .Nothing is given despite Bojo's optimism for Appledore which needs immediate investment and transfer of technology per Navantia
3. If ML is going to rumble on ,best to lay all the cards on the table ..sooner than later .I think all of us are somewhat jaded by the delays and consequentials here !
4. In general either before or at the 10th November Get Together we need news of a significant contract, details of how H&W is fairing in difficult times, news about progress with Navantia /Barrow and ,dare I say, something however small about IM ..
do all attend 10th November ... still lots to be excited about .if only..
