Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Stephen is indeed a long term SH and also a past Board member some time ago with immense knowledge and experience of the company. He posts occasionally I believe. His bold move and confidence augurs well for us all !!
Nice One,Chris ... text well published !!
Fingers crossed she WILL be back with her sisters ... and may be more !!
.... so reports The Times today indicating that Boris is energised by the prospect of a Green Recovery after Gas has run it's useful transition course from fossil fuels to zero carbon.
"Carbon drove the Industrial Revolution and Hydrogen can drive the Green Revolution. It can be used not only to fuel heavy goods vehicles and buses ( battery power is unlikley to be efficient ) and ships even but also to heat our homes."
Hydrogen has a great future. It can be produced indigenously and stored locally !! I.M. is potentially hydrogen compliant --a great future ..now more than ever as Nuclear is not going to fill the gap !! Stay calm and keep the faith here !!
EXCELLENT.. thanks indeed for speedy honest and therefore helpful response.. much appreciated!!
An indication of a second Viking Ship leaving until a significant contact of work is confirmed worries me . We need to know the source of this rumour to negate any fake news and if plausible why the ship is going and to where .. and is it purely to facilitate another ship docking .. is it likely to return etc .. most disturbing news indeed .Can anyone please clarify !
Me too ..I am considering the HMRC Witholding Payment soon !!!
Well spotted,Chris ... do they drive on the right in Devon ?!!!
Yes ..agreed ..if it wasn't for you interfering in your own positive way and bringing JW & Co on board then Infa probably would no longer exist now ...and we would have nothing at all to look forward to ..so there !!
At last the lock gate is working now !!
Oceanex Connaigra is now secured in the smaller Thompson dock so will be interesting to see what fills the Building Dock when Stena Scotia leaves !!
Confirmed for sure and, yes ...well spotted indeed --it's on it's way to the yard not just the Port and there may be a link with the departure of Viking Sun --Mukran in N. Germany is a Baltic Port for the Scanadavian and Russian trade and ferries (both rail and vehicle) and it has an admirable webby site ..not really a ship repair or shipyard place at all ..interesting destination therefore .Lots of comings and goings for September ..just hope that they are profitable !!
.....of Boris to lend a hand and start the rejuvenation of A&P today by painting the blue generator type machine ... yes, bright yellow with a gleeful joyous but somewhat bemused and slightly worried JW looking on .. plenty of News shots from inside the fabrication shed ... sadly all about masks in Schools and some stern words about the Beeb and the Proms and nothing about the urgent need to support heavy manufacturing industry and how our little AIM tiddler is leading the charge despite Covid.
Anyhow some excellent PR today though JW looks better in an office suit than a boiler suit !! The papers will comment tomorrow on our new “investment” but at least we have had a great forum here today .. tomorrow should be fun !!
....It probably is !!
The serious downside of the RNS is rather more " jam tomorrow " and nothing definitive/certain about current actual contracts and of course IM is uncertain .BUT ...assuming:
1. That JW and Team ( who are not short of experts in the field of shipbuilding now) have done their Due Diligence well and have convinced the II's of the merit and affordability of their plans and clearly have their support and
2. Whilst the yard does look rather dilapidated and somewhat run down now after 18 months or so of closure and lack of investment,we do have the strongest link for updating with new systems and technology with Navantia and i just hope that they have been fully involved at all stages ..well done indeed in keeping stum by the way as the RNS was a shocker indeed !
3. Bab*** could not make it fit their business model but we have good connections and working relationships with them and they are of course a major player in UK Naval contracts and A&P did play a vital role in building modules and the complicated bow section for the Carriers so the yard does have capability.
4.JW sems to have wizard connections in the City ( perhaps with one well known exception !?) so hopefully finance is not an issue over the 30 months time span for payment .
5. The market is still digesting today but if Bojo & Co are truly on board ( and their presence is a jolly good sign so well done PR section ) then for the long term view assuming all above fits in we must give credit --there certainly is a book to be written here !!
Excellent idea and a way of attaining a “feel “ of real time activity .. have contacted two colleagues who may help and volunteer posts .. after all we did “save” their jobs last autumn and they seem a “jolly” determined group of stalwarts!!
!!!!??? OK ...what most readers here are interested in is good positive 2020 news ...in fact any 2020 news !The post by you appears at first glance to indicate that we have a new entrant in the dock which it transpires is certainly not the case though the historical facts about its drunken captain's collision with the Stena Feronia in 2012 is worthy of a good read so in that regard your post is merited ..otherwise "tosh" and let's stick to current events, progress on which is sorley needed !!!!??!!
March 2012 news !!!?
Thanks, Chris, for keeping the thread going .. I have always understood that one of the main reasons why this little AIM tiddler was able to snaffle H&W from under the nose of BAE Systems and others was the business plan offered by JW and team for apprenticeships and local employment.. at the time focusing on steel fabrication for IM . Time to work on this which I am confident the team are doing .. we shall see ... soon !!!
.............being lost in Belfast --neary 100 at Bombardier (all highly skilled and just around the corner from H&W) and up to 800 elsehwhere in retail and service sectors ...dire times indeed.Need to sort out Government support for apprenticeships using new equipment funded from the recent Captial raise and with help from our Spanish partner (Navantia) and it's high tech skills and acumen base !!!
Hmm...Just remember all "the choppy seas" indicators ..never said it was going to be easy ! At least the Lagan is calm now and we have a great team and future in place with some world class appointments ....and a potential world class facility in the making.
Also we have a Board Appointment of some significant exerience in PR ..what we all need is this Government to stop worrying about supporting nail bars and retail and get on with supporting wealth creation sectors like ours ..so far lobbying seems to have been with no avail but all things considered and with the track record of H&W so far since take-over in truly dire times we "ain't half done too badly" --we now have a great aset base and capital funding but still "rough seas "ahead sadly and obviously ............
