Spud, dear friend from the past ..my personal understanding about Gresham (not taken from the BOD ) is that Gresham wanted a seat at the table which placed them in conflict with other II’s at the time. Those II’s are still supporting us..
As regards the supposed pitiful pitch at the Saipem placement it was absolutely vital that the funds were raised on the day as to otherwise lose Saipem would have been....... well reference to those items in the lounge which you close at night comes to mind !
Very well said,Stokey. Am not quite understanding dear old Spud and his attitude at present . He has been a driving force with us PI’s for many years with many valued posts over a long period .
He even had a hand in a video of IM some time back and I have valued many past chats with him BUT
Despite high initial finance costs H&W remains a snip at £5m +..We are not there yet but 2 years on progress has been made
Methil and Saipem may well not be our own self generated contracts but with Sturgeons’ lot having invested over £50m in the site and JW being astute enough to pick it and Hebrides up for £800k at the very cusp of UK sourced wind farm work being finally supported, he must be highly praised for that IMHO.
Not so sure about Appledore /Hebrides but Remember please that JW was brought in to sort IM out and when that has gone AWOL outside his commercial and personal control he and AR have done us proud to keep the ship afloat
Do Come back on board,Spud ... some rough weeks ahead (despite Azura now at the quayside) as we have plenty to play for .. honest !!!!
Poots resigns and some chunky Buys reported late today.
ML decision just has to be sorted and finalised soonest one way or the other to avoid yet another bureaucratic nonsense blunder for all parties concerned .
Soon the doomsayers doomsters and shorters will be having an almighty “egg on face “ . The hand rail is hot !!
Enjoy the rest of the match !!!
The Building Dock has not been in use for months now .. speaks volumes and we are storing a lot of expensive sea water !!
You may well be right,Mr S and fair comment ..BUT IMHO whilst JW & Co have at times been called "maverick chancers " it is agreed I think that the comment made last eve------ that we would not be having any discussions about Infa now had they not arrived in 2018, shaken up the old BOD ,bought H&W on a whim, likewise with AP Methil and Arnish and moved us away from the then One Trick Pony that was I.M.---- is 100% correct.
Despite the rather lack lustre performance last eve ( which I put down to sheer fatigue and heavy workload for such a small team with grand designs and big issues) we do need to support JW going forward .
I.M. will happen and the Building Dock will have a visitor or two before long .The O.O. is heavily discounted at 30p to attract the earlier Placement last week which remember was fully successful.
We need to look forward to break even or more by year end ...NOT to dwell upon past possible vents/indiscretions,personal or otherwise !!
The Heavy Lift Vessel "Pugnax" is still there ..just off Groomsport !! Happy Evening all !!
Careful here !!!
Yes, Well done Sir TTNY --I recall that you were the first to accurately report the then imminent arrival of the P&O ferry last month and now something for Appledore. OK just another tiddler but hopefully you will be on the case when the "Big One " comes along soon .So refreshing to have a flow of positive news. I think that it has been well reported on this board for some time now that we needed a cash raise bearing in mind the paucity of use of the Building Dock, for example but the amount of the discounted price was rather breathtaking this morning .As others have said today we remain a tiddler in the scheme of things.
We bought H&W with a bear cupboard...snaffled Appledore with an extended payment schedule "stole " the Scottish yards after Sturgeon had messed up and blown a good deal. So all good credit perhaps to JW & Co for these acts of vision and alacrity but indeed a show of self confidence now ( assuming no closed period) by the BOD including Mr Chair with an investment would not go amiss.
And what's more ...who could bypass a 30p giveaway ??? Surely a no brainer when so much in the pipleine !!
Fully Agreed ...am dismayed ..For Once ..Hat well and truly eaten !! I suppose JW s trying to build up the Company to be a significant player in Shipbuilding ad Wind Farms ..but clearly at the expense of the small investor .I never thought that we would see 30p so soon. The earlier II's will be interestingly surprised too IMHO of course .
Well spotted ,Mr Major Ship Spotter and well done, I think ,Tango,Sir, for first seeing this one coming .
How's about having a peep at the Good Ship Pugnax which is shown to be coming to Belfast but it is and has been moored in Belfast Lough for a few days after a voyage from Port Arthur USA .it is a " Heavy Load Carrier " registered in Curacao which is a Caribbean Island. It is not shown on the Belfast Harbour Site at all ...Interesting ..Is it heading ........................!!!? We certainly need news now of something to cause the waters of the Lower Lagan to ripple a bit !!!
Patience,Patience .. the contract for the BIG boys moored down there takes time , but ........... ??!
Tease .. Speedy, Moi ?? Never entered my head dear friend .. At least two possibly three of those South Coast loungers really only have one nearby and cost effective venue to go .. look outs are positioned at Bangor and Donaghadee .. and Vessel Finder .. will report when any scintilla of anchor lifting is seen .. Yours Mr Teasee
285 trades today .. that just confirms the interest from PI’s in this beauty... Monday may be blue .. would be nice to see something big and grand sailing in the Azure Blue of Belfast Lough and heading for the former inlet of the Lagan !!
TTNY---well said,Mate ---the Methil news is just a crumb albeit quite a decent one for starters ..as someone else has posted today the immediate rise and then fall today shows how fragile the SP is for us PI's with significant but understandable profit taking place throughout the session so far ....but when the weekend press have played their part and bystander investors wake up to the rising potential here, then Monday could open well ...very well .
TNNY --do not worry about the unknown knowns --They will appear just as sure as the odd cruiser will quietly slip anchor from the South Coast and head our way ??!!
Well worth a view -It's in the middle of the episode and there is talk of "more to follow " ..They must be really chuffed up on the East Coast with the resurrection of the yards especially after Sturgeon's total mismanagement of contracts causing such a debacle and quite significant loss for the Tax payer ( Scottish !)
....... not having a very good day !!! Babbers !!
Yet another fabulous find and post Mr TTNY .Well done indeed. I think that you and good old Stokey are on the right tracks here .Remember that JW met representatives of RC with the Powers That Be at No.10 ,I think in 2020, and word has been mentioned that our Building Dock could even take two of this beauties for a bottom scrape as you call it !.
If you look at Vessel Finder you will see that Harmony of The Seas is currently in dry dock with Navantia at their Cadiz yard ..Anthem of The Seas and Jewel of The Seas are lying at anchor just off the South Coast --better that they head North rather than South .The Bay of Biscay can be rough at any time of the Year ..You never know ..Only conjecture, though some will know of " The Unknowns " ?!!!
Yes,Chris ... good spot again ..
One of the main reasons that JW was able to “pinch and snatch” H&W was the temptation of apprenticeships .. we are slowly but surely increasing the workforce I believe and have strong local agency contacts with the vibrant skilled Belfast workforce just waiting for action..... and WORK
Certainly news of a Cruise Liner update and oil change ready for the new season would help overcome the current doldrums with ML !! And fill the Building Dock which has been empty now for quite some weeks ... and costing !!!!
......and European Causeway may be with us for most of May .. again for a full service and bottom scrape .. not just an oil change .. fantastic news really today overriding the non news (so far ) re “the other matter”!! The team at the Yard are working well and that includes the contract estimators.
Shucks.... nearly right Mr. “This time In About Three Year’s Time “ which is about the time span for finalising a certain licence .. I was April fooled as I was expecting the Highlander to berth tomorrow from my source in the sector but there has been a short logistical delay . Will eat half my hat but, hey, this is fabulous news as we enter the harbour on our long voyage and will overshadow other issues for a while .Securing P&O is a real coup for the H&W team .. and well done indeed....just hoping that the contract is not too tight .
E Causeway is scheduled for work soon possibly and if correct and she comes to us , that is an added bonus . So enjoy this bit of good news today whilst you can !!
As Manuel would say “I know nathing”!! Honestly, trying to balance up all the hard work done on the project to date and the money/time invested (inc all those Euros) against the probable understandable vocal opposition to the project .. trying to assess which way and how quick a final decision will be forthcoming is .. well like bog snorkelling or even knitting fog !!
