Having been critical of the structure/hierarchy/visibility of the company’s brands, I must be fair and say once you get there, the websites are very good to use, and offer a massive range of products - even if JD Williams and Home Essentials (which sounds like something from British Home Stores Marketing dept of 50 years ago...) cover the same/similar ground in non-clothing. There, I said something nice..!

Yesterday’s drop, which hooked me in, was equally without obvious cause. 15% a day will do nicely ta.

Pre COVID I bought At 75 and 70, so still in arrears there - but thankfully the biggest tranche was acquired at 17.8 and so overall I’m comfortably in profit. Like many here I’m going nowhere anytime soon...

Good to see the announcement of a new 3% plus holding. Especially as I came in at the same time...

A bit of a punt, but I’ve taken some TED today. I take it as given there’s a huge amount of work going on to restore Brand credibility, and trust that the management is ensuring its online platform is red hot and getting the necessary investment to respond to the general significant increase in online business now and the medium term.

if JD Williams is for the oldies, why has N Brown shoved (hidden) all the younger brands under the JD Williams umbrella? Again, the structure looks odd.

Oddly, HL have Had the the sp stuck at 45 to sell Since the off. Tried a dummy buy and got no quote.. tried a dummy sell and offered 48plus. HL not what it was - they need to spend some money on their platform.

Why would it be? Quiz Situation is quite complex by the look of it.

Re paid for, earlier I searched organically on Google using key words for each site. Happily all came well up on the front page except Simply Be, which appeared in the middle on page 2. Interestingly, a paid ad for Simply Be was relegated to page 3.

I’d be very interested in the results of a marketing survey about those five retail brands - have people across the UK heard of them and do they know what they sell, etc. The internet can provide a fantastic market place, but it’s also a graveyard for companies that use it poorly. I’m pleased they are trying to recruit the staff to help in this regard.

Yes, I think it was Kay’s from whom I acquired my fist smart gear as a teenager in the sixties - never missed a payment. Those catalogue names were massive in their day with instant brand recognition for many people, but today they are largely consigned to history. My view is that this company - or its brands - have too low a profile, even if a lot of Money has been spent. At least on that basis there is plenty of scope to grow recognition and subsequently revenue.

One strength Boohoo has that this co doesn’t is a name that resonates- once it’s heard. N Brown...I bet few people have a clue. Yes we have several brand names but they are rather below many people’s radar. Boohoo cUstomers go to Boohoo where they find several brands - which that co is developing by acquisitions. I suppose it depends on the reason for any vacancies. A good employer keeps good staff, with a low churn rate. If job vacancies are linked to expansion all well and good, so long as there’s ultimately a meaningful bottom line return on the investment.

While £160m over eight years is good, solid bread n butter stuff (and hence not worthy of a RNS), a perhaps more significant takeaway is that a major client, having carried out due diligence, is sufficiently assured to sign Kier up for that length of contract. That I find rather reassuring.

It’s got to be beneficial to have access to those two significant markets, and who knows maybe a shop floor space deal might follow - at least with JL. I’d think JL desperately need to create new interests just to keep relevant to the important woman shopper - so a favourable deal might be possible. Meanwhile SOS is well placed for the current times.

The arrangement with JL and Next is initially for the inclusion of (some of) Sosandar’s Autumn/Winter product range on their online platforms. It does not incorporate a high street presence in their stores.
