Some of the cost savings will have been achieved via the staff furlough scheme which ends about now. Will they now look at redundancy measures or absorb a significant increase to costs...?

Usually occurs first or second week October, but the annuals were late this year so maybe some slippage carrying forward. Hopefully they’ll be working hard to get their reporting back on track and not Let things drift too far.

I’ve placed a top up buy order at 105. The swings probably make it a reasonable possibility.

I think yesterday’s announcement is actually more meaningful than at first take. Not only does it give the company the benefit of two key players via the nominee arrangement, it also sends a clear message of a line drawn, greater stability and no more skeletons in the cupboard to pop out. Onwards and upwards quite steadily I think.

I wouldn’t get too concern over the know-all doomsters on Other bulletin boards. In fairness he was stating an opinion in response to an open question, but he offered no great insight. Most people can read such posts in a balanced way and make their own judgment. Of course BWNG has had troubles, that’s why it was at 70p pre-Covid, but it’s all about what they do in response. The signs are very encouraging for a sustainable turnaround.

At the moment no company in their right mind is going to pay for another as a going concern, not when it’s a weekly battle to stay alive and brand names can be picked up for peanuts when they go belly up.. Ted’s going to have to survive (or fail as a worst case) on its own merits so management still has some work to do.

If indeed it does consolidate here. From recent historical movements we could be back at 55 in the blink of an eye - but hopefully not. If it does go back to mid fifties or below I’ll do a big top up.

A case in point - last night my wife looked at J D Williams clothing as an uninitiated (genuine) online customer. She was On the point of writing the clothing - and therefore the company - off when I pointed out the fashion brands on the site. She is now placing an order. Basically the first contact here didn’t hold the potential new customer. I think Perhaps they concentrate too much on existing, core customers - which is much mentioned in their strategy - and can’t see their offerings from newby customers. Hopefully that will get sharper.
