It seems clear that a lot of short term holders feel the same too, any rise results in profit taking after the surge and retraction last week. Long term they look a solid bet but there's a lot of 'temporary' money in them at the moment, likely to hold back efforts of a break out.

Bit of a sell-off on SOLA this morning, having opened lower they've succumbed to profit taking. Price seems to have stabilised at present though, may be ready to turn up again?

A good call that, lots of buys and romping ahead, 87-88p already. It seemed highly likely that we'd either get contract news or a broker rerating, we may pass 90p quite early on if the buying keeps up...

If I sold SOLA and SMC today, I'd make 3 times as much from my SOLA shares as from my SMC shares. Oh for a little sense, we should never berate ourselves for taking a healthy profit, to miss out on further gains is inconsequential. To see a large profit turn into a small one, or worse still, a loss, is a crying shame. Still, SOLA keeps on rolling and keeping the day nicely blue, we're getting close to breaking through 520p, now 515.5-520.0p.

I see that the preliminary results are out on Tuesday. That might be the opportunity for the board to provide guidance on whether they still plan to sell the company whole (and any progress they might have made) or whether they are considering splitting it up and selling the parts. Probably worth hanging on until next week for anyone holding. Probably.

Lol, back late from my delivery/install as my customer/friend decided to set fire to their house whilst I was there. I can now add amateur firefighter to my list of abilities. Can anyone else smell smoke now or is it just me? Looking pretty good now at 512-516.5p, not quite 520p but you're all forgiven, with a little more buying we ought to pass that today. Incidentally, can't find anything on the MS web site re SOLA, doesn't mean it didn't happen but probably not on the site yet or a perhaps private note to their clients.

Well I think 550p would be a good price by the results. Of course we never can tell which share will move quickly, but hindsight tells me I should have held SOLA yesterday and taken the profit on SMC but that's the way it goes. Have to go deliver and install a PC, would have liked to have watched my screens this morning as several account trades going blue. Keep up the buying everyone, 520p by the time I get back at lunchtime then?

Nice to see further good support for Sola this morning, your 486p doesn't look so bad now on this cloudy morn. 492-494p which should be break even after costs at least. My water (hmm) tells me we'll pass 500p easily today, but hey, I've been wrong enough times on that score, so I'll just say I think we have further to go. And look at that, 501-506p just hit my screen. Wow! :)

The Times reports today that BT is the sole bidder but is not that interested in PXC as a whole. That spells doom for being taken out in one go. However, brokers have suggested that if it is broken up and sold as parts (eg BT would be very interested in the half million plus Broadband subscribers) then PXC is probably worth over 18p per share.

Read the reports but ultimately make your own decision, personally I'd probably sell, but if BT decide they want PXC then the price will probably be a bit higher than it is now: Again with the losers, Pipex Communications softened 1 to 12-3/4 following a report in the Financial Times that Carphone Warehouse has dropped out of the bidding for the company's assets. Bridgewell believes the current price already factors in generous take-out prices for Pipex's assets. The house continues to see greater downside risk to the shares and reiterates its 'underweight' stance.

My commiserations too. There are lots of places discussing stop losses and their merits and pitfalls. A recent article in the Times suggested that overall they made little difference. Others have posted similar comments re TAN and had their shares sold close to lows only for the share price to rebound the same day. I'd intended to sell at 85p but online trading was suspended and I couldn't be bothered to ring the broker. Besides, the share price was moving down so rapidly I'd have received less by the time the trade went through. I think they should recover, there's a suggestion that either we'll get an announcement of director buys (directors top up too of course) or if not that could be due to another contract announcement due soon. Having hit 65% of their yearly target for contracts already they are well placed to do very well this year. You may yet see your 117p in the not too distant future.

I told you that as soon as I had to sell half my SOLA shares they'd start rising ;) Thankfully I'm still along for the ride, allbeit back at the level I'd intended rather than the "double dose" I accidentally acquired (to the distress of my broker, hehe). Interesting post that one, I presume either it's already been covered by SOLA previously or they didn't think a new RNS was relevant. Of course it might be that they'll just include that piece of news with the results. Looking promising anyway, now 481-482p.

Hang with it dontcall, bouncing now, lots of buys and back up to 83-85p. A big shake that one, but buyers know a bargain when they see it. Might yet be a good week, mny day has been all over the place, starting bad, up massively then back down, but now nicely blue again, hope for us all...

Hmm, indeed they are. I thought 85p would be my bail price, but level 2 showing 3-1, so three brokers want these at 85p currently. Strange day, SOLA up despite more sells than buys, SMC down despite more buys than sells. SP now 85-87p and now 2-1, decisions, decisions...

The bid has just ticked up to 21p, with 21.5p on the offer. This usually results in a few sellers, but they've not showed up yet. Tight spread so maybe the market makers are low on stock, now at 248K buys agains 101K sells today. Hanging in there...

As Debbie mentioned, the results are due in a little over a week, so the T20 should see me safely though them (latest sell date is the 4th May), I'm expecting good things at that time.

I had a bit of a balls up on this one, put an order in on a T20 which didn't complete, so bought a regular T10, only to find that the T20 went through before I could cancel. Fortunately the SP has risen so I've just sold the T10 with a respectable 4% gain after costs - expect them to shoot up any time now ;) I would have liked to have held both lots but my broker is not allowing me to buy anything else, he says I have too many open positions. Bah humbug.
