was told a true (well hope it is true) story about talking to yourself and embarrassing, but do not read if you are offended easy.

Guy goes into a cubical in a public toilet and hears this voice saying Ok mate.

Just ignores it.

Voice says are you there are you ok?

Guy says yes i am ok.

voice says great day today.

Guy says yes.

Voice says what are you doing tonight.

Guy says do not know?

Voice then says will phone you back latter some idiot in the next cubical keeps answering every time i say something.

Years ago i worked under a manager in the post office a very intelligent man like yourself and always remember two of the many times i spoke to him,.

One time he knew what sport i was into and he came up to me and talked for 10 minutes about cycling and was very pleasant, only afterwords did i realize that he had actually gave me a telling of for being late 2 days in a row.

Years ago the post office was a job for life unless you stole or hit some one, that manager told me in his retirement party the guys you work with are here to stay you dont have to like them but you do need to have a working relationship with them, always look for the best in them and try to bring out the best in them.

Prat AP posts seem a lot milder this morning so never know maybe they will prove me wrong and start and be nice?

Wonder how many are spending vs reinvesting dividend? All seem hopeful of BT shares rising, some like myself hopeful of a bid and some because of reduced costs etc.

My dividend is already spent, nice galvanised garden arch that will be paired with climbing honey suckle, not saying where i live but in NI today (maybe always here) BT is paying for a day trip to the marble arch caves, under ground boat ride and some lovely formations etc.

AP, Said it before believe what ever you want, Rod is also entitled to his views but comes under many many horrific insults and attack, hes very intelligent and has is great fun would be a pleasure to actually know him and i am sure he would be the life and soul of any gathering but he indeed has one fault (sorry Rod have to let them know) Rod is human.

So why not be nice and look for the best in every one rather that posting insults and in doing so try to provoke a reaction?

Really had not intended to reply but this once i will, just to let you know your insults are meaningless just like water of a ducks back to me but there are many on here that have expressed there views that they do not wish to read the insults.

What any of us write says more about ourselves than who we write about.

Very good points well made, BT (in my view ) is as you say under valued, added to that a pay increase of %4 is an actual reduction, Reason i am hopeful of bids is managements inability to sort out pension deflect and keeping falling foul with Ofcom, many thanks for your post/posts as they are informative and even when share price drops a bit inspire reassurance.

TBH would like to have fleccys optimist views but without a bid or biding war can not see long term holders of BT shares even come close to breaking even with there investment in BT.

Know theres lots of talk about how in 5 or 10 years BT shares will show great return and theres the dividend, but the dividend only just covers the loss of value of your investment due to inflation.

If theres no bid then would be delighted to be wrong and BT shares keep going up.

Do your own research all shares are a gamble more than an investment, think of views and advice like this if any one could be %100 sure to be right more than %50 of the time they could make Billions, Such is life and life is such.

Prices ever where seem to be going up and both pay rises and private pensions do not seem to be be keeping up.

BT had a 4% pay rise this year, My thoughts are that a 4% increase is an actual reduction in wages and also has the effect of reducing the final pension.

Regardless of views of BT being over or under paid for most standards of living are reducing, whats the answer strikes for more pay? if larger pay rises are given then costs go up more and really no one is better of and perhaps pensioners are actually worse of?
