Sorry for being lazy and not looking myself, but does anyone know what average our ii's are in at here? something in the back of my head makes me think some are in higher then the 67.5p offer price arent they? Surely they would vote against the deal if they are?
tomphys - good work, are you a secret detective by any chance haha.
Love it when B*ll Sh**ters get called out and proved to be B*ll Sh**ters. Goinglarge certainly appears to fall into that catergory so has become the newest member of my very select BLOCKED list. Congratulations Goinlarge
i dont normally get too involved in the arguments between individual investors on here but MrC has been here for a very long time with a significant holding (wouldnt suprise me if he is one of the largest on this board). I dont know the guy from Adam but most of what he says on here does make sense so I do tend to trust his comments more then most on this site so if he wants to have a bit of a moan, I'd say he has paid enough money to warrant that at least.
Cant actually see what he has said wrong other then having a bit of a pop at Secker which he is entitled to do as a shareholder
Nookie - well timed on KOD, congrats! Surely BCN is a safe bet now too
not a bad dilema to have is it? We are all concernced about how much tax we might have to pay when this hopefully sees out its true potential (mine are all in shares ISA for what its worth)
Hi MrC, I see you couldnt resist but buy some more. You are very deep in this now my friend! I've also topped up but sadly not in your league.
If you dont mind me asking, do you still have your entire holding or have you downsized along the way?
this suggestion of nationalisation crops up periodically every couple of months and has done consistantly for the last year or so. I'm fairly sure its already been confirmed that any potential nationalisation only applies to new licences going forward and any existing licence agreement in excluded
c12% below the last placing round now. if 45p was good enough for Gangfeng, then 39.5p is certainly good enough for me to top up. Just waiting for US market to open so I can sell off some of those shares that are stuck in the doldrums and plough it in here
DarrenBuffer - you still waiting for your 83p reentry or tempted at current levels? Or maybe even revised your entry point lower?
I thought you had called it wrong a week ago but does seem to be retracing now. not really a problem for me as a LTH though, happy with my holding and not really looking to add anymore at this stage due to lack of spare funds
I'm trying to do the same calculation on a couple of shares that I hold, cant quite get my head around how to work it out though
unless im mistaken, when private investors buy shares in a company, the said company doesnt receive a penny of the PI's investment as the shares are bought from the market, not direct from the company.
A few posters have mentioned in the last couple of months that they invested in this share as they wanted to help 'the cause'. the only way the cause is helped by PI's is if they participate in new share placings isnt it?
thinking while I type actually........ I suppose they do inadvertently help as buying pressure keeps the SP higher which in turn allows the company more wiggle room if they need to issue more shares for more funds and I suppose some larger II only take notice when a share gets above a certain MCAP.
hmmmm I think I will withdraw my original comment at the start of this message. I do love a good argument with myself haha
thanks everyone for your advice on this. i am a small fry investor and certainly not looking for a tax dodge, so I will get in touch to let them know. hopefully just a friendly word in my ear will do as my origianl Halifax shars ISA has only been topped up just over £1000 this year. I have moved money between BCN and AGL this year thoough that are both in my Halifax ISA, I assume that doesnt matter does it as I havent never withdrawn any money out of the ISA?
Only put c£3,000 in the other ISA too so nothing big (although it is nicely up at the minute which is nice!)
I would just add that neither of them are close to going over the threshold to pay CGT at the minute and wont be this tax year for certain
what happens if you have paid into both? I topped up my BCN shares on 17th April 2020 and opened my other ISA account in September and started buying shares straight away
just on the topic of shares ISA's. I have one with Halifax that I open many years ago with my BCN and AGL shares in it, but then recently opened a second shares ISA on one of those commission free platforms so I could build up a portfolio over time with smaller buys (wouldnt be worth doing smaller buys with Halifax due to the £12.5 fee).
I read somewhere that you can only have one share ISA at a time? I tried to research the correct answer but got a lot of conflicting views. So best case scenario, BCN/AGL really start to fly over the next couple of years and tip profit over the allowance, and my other shares in the other ISA do the same....... are both protected from GCT or could I get stung with one of them?
I know its unlikley i would sell them all at the same time but you never know whats going to happen I suppose?
Tivman - yep, I stand corrected. looks like the can increase back to 29.99% at the placing price.
we had a similar scenario with M&G when Gangfeng first invested didnt we? M&G wanted to get back to their original percentage holding so were given more shares at the same price the Gangfeng paid.
I mentioned this at the time that we could just end up going round in circles with all ii's always getting sligtly diluted then wanting to come back up again. wouldnt they all have to agree to at the same time to ensure they all get their exact required holding?
Tivman - yes I believe you are correct so could potentially be more shares issued, but i seem to remember the agreement was that they pay current market price for those additional shares
I added a few more this morning too. I missed the retail offer so glad to have been able to add at 46p. been holding a while and still in nice profit despite the drop, think my average is 36p now.
i did originally think a 20% discount was way too cheap but then I forgot about the failed placing a couple of years ago (bluegrass just reminded me) so maybe it was better to go cheap to ensure the deal is done then try for a lesser discount but run the risk of not filling it. seems to have got filled quickly too as it looks like the retail offer was closed earlier then expected
or could just be normal recent pattern of down in the morning then raising in the afternoon? (fingers crossed)
Hi Crypt0r, Seems me any you are in the exact same position with our investment journey so I'll add my name to that request for info too please, but I'll just add a follow up with a couple more questions please.....
- if for example when listed on the Nasdaq the IPO raised $1b for argument sake, does that automatically increase the UK MCap to c£750m (depending on exchange rate at the time) and therefore increase the value of our shares accordingly?
- if a large pharma then wanted to buy AGL, would they have to pay the current MCAP based on both markets or do the two listings effectivley become one overall MCAP of $1b as that is what each listing is worth individually?
I did ask a similar question on a different board a while back but it was too full of the usual drivel for anyone to pay any notice of little old me. This board is much more sensible and polite!
