Nobody should be worried about their shares , either you will have a certificate covering your holding or your broker will be holding certificates covering all holdings that are in their nominee names representing all shareholders that dealt through them. If you did deal under the certificated route and have not got your share cert then you should contact the previous registrars for a replacement , this will cost you anything upwards of £25-£50 I guess , not sure exactly. Upon closure of the register the registrars sent out certificates to all holders , so those in nominee name i.e brokers , their corporate actions dept probably hold the certs , they certainly have them.
