Alfa,
While my knowledge of Chemistry ends at my A-Levels some 15 years back, the specificity of Vanadium's application still eludes me despite your best efforts at explanation. Given that many other transition metals exhibit varying ion states (Fe, Cu and Cr off the top of my head, the latter only having one more electron than vanadium although the 4s shell is now not filled), why is it that Vanadium is the best of all of these elemental ions?
