RE: Halfords up Friday. The virus is going to make people avoid29 Feb 2020 18:27
Hi guys. I am heavily invested in Halfords, but I honestly think the small rise on Friday was more due to the fact that this is a very low volume share. Since the tumble this week, Halfords shares have lost the least in my portfolio (7%). Again I think this is because it is a low volume share and to be fair, the shares were quite a bit down before this week (being shorted i suspect). All credit to Halfords they have made a huge effort in revamping their business recently. When I was buying some car detailing products recently, I found out that all the staff had been on a training course to detail (clean and polish) a car. They actually knew what they were talking about. The warranty on my second hand car preferred to use Halfords auto centre when the car needed a repair, the experience was far better than most garages, and was what made me decide to invest. I think Halfords are moving in the right direction, which means providing more services and focusing on retail that is not suitable over the internet; i.e. bikes etc. I hope they have not suffered any damage in the floods, and again there a lot of products in Halfords that could be useful in the aftermath.
