RE: Support Broken1 Oct 2021 00:16
Cerea, if you cant see why the price has lowered, you should not invest in these types of shares.
It boils down to a lack of sales and consequently a lack of revenue. Invinity are quite a big company, it obviously takes a large team to deploy a 1 MW battery. Therefore the cash burn is quite intensive. So they are running out of money. They are hopeful of an order, which of coarse would help, but in the RNS, they talk about 'also' having to raise more cash from investors, so in reality probably know they are unlikely to generate enough sales to not need to raise capital. Remembering that the last order was for a very small battery, it might not be enough.
The company will issue more shares (out of thin air) and sell them to investors at a cheaper price to encourage subscription, in order to generate some money. This is known as a 'placing'.
The company will have a figure in mind. Last time in December 2020, they raised 20 million gross, from 11M shares (at £1.75). This meant that as a shareholder, there were now 16% more share holders also invested, meaning that your share in the future success of the company has been 'diluted' by 16%. By the way, that 20M is before expenses! There are substantial costs charged by VSA Capital and Canaccord the brokers. - But at least VSA capital are already working hard for their money, see their pump piece linked in another thread : 'Proactive mention from VSA'.
The really unfortunate thing is, placing additional shares are always priced lower than the SP. The price has declined sharply here now because this isn't the first placing. Usually investors will stomach one, while the company ramps up the sales or drills the oil well. Unfortunately, and the real issue here is that the placing in this case is down to a lack of sales. So raising more money isn't necessarily going to fix that.
As the price drops, the dilution will increase, in order for the company to raise any meaningful money. They felt 20M was needed last time at £1.75 per share. We have very nearly halved the price now, so going to be some significant dilution now.
Seems like a good product, management seem to be trying hard. Just unfortunate lack of sales. Some people probably expected more finance needed, but 20M in 12 months (with sales) and now coming back for more!
Having written all of that, I wonder if you made it to the bottom Cerea? Probably not.
