Cureboy. I hope you are right, but there is no guarantee the sp will be higher. If there was, we could all get very rich by going long on vod. Newbie. Don't forget that the sp will be adjusted downwards on ex divi day by the divi amount, I am very possitive about the vod sp, but no guarantees.

There are rules about a company buying back it's own shares. As meoryou said, they can't just buy 10million in one go. Vod can't just keep buying back it's own shares willy nilly, it is not that simple.

Gerry. If sp halves, but the div stays the same, the div yield will be double, & vice versa. Of course dividend yield is based on the share price. gwm was talking about the div yield. Not like you Gerry to get that one wrong??!!

CWWX.. Of course vod could not take the sp back to £2 simply by buying back it's own shares. I think however the proposed 4 billion, staged buy back is a good thing, & might take it to 80p if we are very lucky. Profits is what is needed in the long run, so who knows. I think vod is worth well over a pound, but just buying back shares is not going take it to that price, only the market can do that. To add, I think there are rules about buying back your own shares for cancellation, & vod could not afford to buy them back on the open market without a very high risk of going bust.

Boo says 2 x 3.8p over the next 8 mths, but that would mean a 3.8p interim divi next year. I thought the divi's next year were 3.8p in total? Any thoughts on that please?
