Patient. 10-20% is very high inflation, that's why the government at the time were desperate to lover it by raising interest rates. You sound like someone who thinks they know more that the government, but clearly doesn't. Usual armchair politics. Also high house price inflation is very bad for young people trying to buy a house. What is the good of your house doubling in price, when the next house you buy has doubled in price as well, you gain nothing. Its only good for property developers etc. You show me any country with very high inflation 10 to 20% that has a successful economy. Instead of doing your own research,you need to go back to school & learn about economics.

Patient. Lets bring back hyper inflation back then shall we, I don't how old you are, or if you are just joking?? High inflation is a disaster in the long run. Perhaps around about 2% is ok. There are pro's & cons, but any sensible economist will tell you 10% or more inflation is very bad. Try looking back into history. Sorry mate, but you do seem a bit clueless at times.

Thunder,Thanks for your reply,but the reason I don't grasp your points is that, after asking you to explain, you haven't done so. But never mind. Perhaps others on here can help? One last point though is, it is no good living in an ultra low % environment, if you paying a higher % on your debt. The big question of course is , how much % does vod pay, on average, on its debt.

Patient thanks for your theoretical post, but,what has the divi yield % got to do with the % vod pays on its deb't? Are you saying that if vod upped its divi to a 10% yield it could afford to borrow money at an even higher rate. They are 2 completely different things. If vod can borrow at lets say 3% but can re invest at 5%,then that might make sense. Also as long as the divi yield is lower than vods profits then that would make sense. This is all just basic economic common sense. But as for the more complex decisions, then I think we should leave it to the (not perfect) B.O.D. but far better than some of the armchair economists on this forum. No disrespect to the many wiser than me (non knee jerk) posters on here.

I never said vod or bt will not do well in the next 12 months. Hence the strong buy. But what does "were else do you get yield if bonds go negative-critical infrastructure" mean? Explain please, because you make no sense. Where do you get all this stuff from. Please don't just reprint stuff that you read, you need to explain yourself. "Telecomms (sic) is a proven hedge against inflation" Proven by who?? Talk sense please??

Thunder 2040. Much as I love your positive post, What is this ultra low % that vod is paying on its massive debt. A sensible answer to that would be good. It's one thing being positive, but another, living in cloud coocoo land. I of course think vod can afford to repay its far from ultra low % debt, as long as it makes good profits, but please don't talk nonsense.

I hold vodafone shares, & regularly post on the vod forum. We have our own village idiot called Mikey, who regularly posts complete nonsense, but I thought I would have a look at a different forum for a change, & I have to say that generally the comments on here are far better, but I notice you have an obvious exception in johnny coder (your very own village idiot)

mole-man. Tell Sid. My wife worked for British Gas, so we made a few bob from that, although I sold out too early, but did very well. Not good today for vod so far, but I am planning to top up in feb with some of the divi, so part of me doesn't want the sp to go up too much before then, which is a situation I hate being in!

Thanks mole, Shame we can't buy shares direct in the offer like the good old days when it was almost money for nothing. I don't know how long you have been around in this game, but you could apply for shares in new issues at a fixed price, compare to the grey market,& if the grey market price was higher, you were on a very likely winner. You could even put in multiple applications using family members to get a good a allocation if over subscribed. Those were the days.

Thunder2040. I thought vod was going to keep 16bn worth & sell 4bn to pay off deb't. That's what I've heard, & I think mole_ man99 said that as well a while ago.
