bubbles. Vodafone shares have never been almost £6. You clearly have not got a clue about vod's historical share price. The historical share price is complex. I have been a vod share holder for over 20+ years (more fool me perhaps) but over all, the highest sp is around £3. Some info doesn't take in to account the verizon share swap +other things. We all know vod has been a bad investment, but please don't give fake info.

bubbles. How do you know vod can't compete in Africa? Are you an expert on Africa? Just because vod has failed in India doesn't mean it will fail in Africa. It is risky of course, but vod has to take risks to survive. bubbles, why don't you do some research on vod in Africa before criticising them? In the meanwhile bubbles I suggest you invest elsewhere because you are clearly not keen on vod.

I think the problem some posters have on here is not so much making stuff up, but wild exaggeration. Any chance of a sensibly, middle approach to the complex problems vod have?

bubbles. No company that pays a 7% divi would have a rights issue. It would be crazy & unheard of. If vod was that desperate for funds it would simple cancel its divi. As for vod going into liquidation? were did you get that idea from. Sorry mate, but I don't think you understand rights issues. Vod is trying to prevent dilution of share value by buying back shares. A rights issue would have the exact opposite effect by issuing extra shares.

fleccy. I can't make any sense out of Umeed's posts. I think he is desperately trying to ramp the vod price any way he can. The share buy back is very complex of course, but basically it is to stop dilution. The obvious way do that is to buy back, then cancel, meaning there are less shares in issue. Basic stuff really? Some on here need to go back to school to learn basic mathematics!?

RichTheNewbie. 2nd half of my post simply means that a if you lose7% from your investment capital,(loss in share price) then that wipes out the 7% divi. That's not difficult to understand is it?

(At 9.32, he predicted it would drop like a brick) positive or what? Shame he works for vod, you couldn't make it up?!

RichTheNewbie. If the only reason anyone invests in Vod is for the divi, then we could all be in trouble!? Investing for the divi only is obviously a very big mistake, lets hope vod has more to offer than just a big divi, It needs profits etc. A 7% divi does not equate to 7% equity as some have suggested. Equity = divi, plus or minus, variation in share price.

Android. You say you agree, but you didn't say what you agree with? Was it the the subject? Too much debt etc, if so you make no sense.

Umeed. I have no intention of selling my "precious" vod shares but, I am not going to bury my head in the sand either. What vodafone buying millions of there own shares tells me, is that they need to do so to stop dilution in share value & are using borrowed money to do so. All we can do is hope vod have got there sums right.

Paul2566. There are 10 L.S.E. vod shares to each nasdaq vod share. so 15.9 = about 1.59.
