If you talked in basic maths/ common sense, instead of lifting things like EBITDA etc you might make sense. No wonder so many on here are confused & cheesed off, with all this nonsense! At the end of the day, vod needs to make more money than it pays wages, divi's & % on it's deb't to make a profit, & make the s/p rise. It's not rocket science? So please give us a break . Leave EBITDA etc, to the accountants.

If I borrow £1,000.000. & pay interest at 2% A.P.R. does that mean I have a free cash flow of £980.000.?? Of course not? I am a big long term investor of vod, but this free cash flow nonsense is getting stupid. You need to work out free cash flow, minus repayments on deb't. Come on you lot? The future for vod could be great, but don't bury your head in the sand with all this free cash flow rubbish, It's not free!! Vod's only hope is to start making more profits? If you think they will, as I do, buy, or hold, if not sell.

Hello robleo Amigo. Share price on 16/nov? Not a clue! But you know me, so I will say £1.25, as I like a quiz! I am not selling, so I have to be positive. £1.50 by ex divi would be very good. Just please everybody, don't mention the dreaded £1 shop! Anyway, a lot of stuff in the £1 shop costs £2 now, so £2 would do, (in my dreams). Good luck all, just don't worry, be happy.

The Loaf. why do you think vod buying back shares makes the divi easier(in theory) to pay? Ok less shareholders to pay the divi to, but less money after buying back shares to pay it. So I don't get your point, as one balances out the other. The share buy backs are vods way of paying off some of it's deb't & to stop share dilution.

The vod sp would be 6/11 of the current price, so 1.11 x 6/11 = about 60.5p. The market cap however would the same as there would be a ratio of 11/6 more shares in circulation.

Robina. How would you suggest then the B.O.D control the share price, they don't control the share price. You seem a bit confused? How do you suggest they create shareholder value? Of course they care about the share price!

Mole-man, Interesting post, Would I be correct in saying that truly excess capital, is profits, minus (interest on deb't + divi payments)? . Vod clearly is struggling to cover it's still high divi, & those who have a pop at you, are just burying there head in the sand. Obviously vod needs to increase it's profits to cover deb't + divi payments. Hopefully they can do this? I think they can! Is free cash flow worked out before taking off the interest paid on deb't?

I have given this forum a break for while! O.K. so!!? But I am pleased by the more positive posts on here, (obviously we are all a bit cheesed off} But apart from the usual sack the b.o.d. Nick Read is a liar, nonsense, some very good posts in my opinion. Good luck all vod shareholders. By the way, if anybody wants to accuse Nick Read, or the guy before him, just look at the takeover of Mannesman by vod many years ago to get a sense of perspective. This is all about seeing into the future, very very difficult! If vod's takeover had worked the way predicted, vod shares would be over £20 now.

808state. The divi is paid twice yearly, Feb & August. Currently 3.83 pence for each divi. I think this will stay the same. As for divi max, good for historical divi's, but no better than anybody else for the future. You get a free period if you sign up, but after that you pay for any future info. Waste of money. They got it very wrong (as everybody else did) in 8/19 , when the final divi was cut by 50%. But, don't buy just for the divi, unless you think the underlying share price (share price rise, minus divi) will rise by at least the divi. I think vod is a big buy, because it is way undervalued, not just for the divi.

Wil57Woo. Although we are all cheesed off with the vod sp lately, if you had bought vod at 1.37 on 1/9/2001(the sp on that date), you would be well in profit if you include divi's. However I agree it has been a bad investment,but not the worst in the ftse100 over 20 years. Railtrack went bust, friends provident nose dived, B.T. were £13.87 on 2.9.1998, but not sure what they were 20 years ago & there are many other worse performers, but I agree, vod has performed very badly, but please don't give false info?

Mikey, the answer is obvious. It is not Nick reads fault, & a new C.E.O. is not going to make things better. I am surprised you don't worry about your position in vod, being so negative, & calling the C.E.O. a liar. Are you sure, some in management don't know who you are. I would be worried if i were you? Who should replace Nick Read then?? Perhaps it is some of the negative workers for vod who are the real problem & should be replaced, not the B.O.D.??
