so drop to £2.01, gain a 10p divvy and lose 17p equity, a loss of 7p - that's not in the money, that's the economics of a madhouse/ramper.

FAIR issues an update today on steps to reduce NAV dicount - basically share buybacks and a reduced (but still generous) fixed ongoing divvy.

I hold FAIR hence following, and what struck me in the commentary was therir assertion -: ".......The Board and Investment Adviser believe that recent movements in the market price of the 2021 Shares are not being driven by fundamentals and intend through these measures to demonstrate the Company's capital discipline and confidence in the Company's cashflows and NAV.""

as TORO's market movements (downwards) have mirrored FAIR's, as does their modus operandi, I feel a positive read across to stocks in this sphere.

$20 million buyback to narrow NAV discount from cash reserves. Not a fan of buybacks - would have just prefered a 4c special divvy.

Reduced quarterly fixed divvy of 2c........but i do like this commentary:

Maybe instead of dismissing anything/anyone that questions your opulent euphoria, your could give us some insight, some numbers that from the basis of such.

I for one wouldn't think it a waste of my time or worthless if you were to post a back of an envelope view, say bbls per day x oil price x GKP share x field/licence duration less costs to propose a valuation. I might not agree with it, but i would value the stimulation of other views/posts that such a post would create, not least as a counterbalance to your wishy washy moon wave psychedelica .

I'm not sure that is the case. FGP have run various rail franchises for a number of years so can hardly protest a lack of understanding of the lead times for training guards/drivers. FGP has made either a conscious decision or are incompetent to not ensure a full complement of essential staff, and to ensure the goodwill of those existing staff by devaluing of their roles. If you take Avanti, the majority of staff were TUPE'd over from the previous franchisee, Virgin, who to memory had 2 very swiftly resolved strikes under their long tenure. Which suggests that some franchisees can navigate a middle road, if they have both the desire and the skillset.

As for FGP being stripped of franchisees - i think pigs will fly first. FGP's stance has been very much led by Govt dogma. Until that changes, FGP are happy to pick up guaranteed payments with zero risk but potential upside whilst the Govt can distance itself from it's agenda under the guise of it being a private company dispute.

In the middle of this grandstanding, it is the customers who are suffering. And FGP shareholders who will benefit from sustained predictable zero risk income.

Do you mean competition commission issues? I don't see that as an issue either, as there is a plethora of fund manager providers beyond those i mentioned. AND as with telecom/tv companies i believe the commission would consider within the wider context of investment opportunities in the modern world - i.e. the growth of self investing and particularly the popularity of low cost ETF's/trackers. Still feel this is an industry ripe for consolidation

jatw; your thoughts on consolidation of the Uk sector are interesting. Don't know much about QLt, but JUP's staff/admin costs are very high, and a merger there would reap a £100 million a year saving without any rationilising/closing of their profit offering.

More generally than M&G, i think the UK assets managers are ripe for consolidation to make a champion; if you merged say MNG, JUP, CLIG, ABRDN, without any fundemantal change in product offering think of the synergies/cost savings. A reduction in duplicated costs that would feed straight to the bottom line.....

i hope you are - if only to see the 12.5% my belief delivers against yours.........

well they've had several months to navigate it, so one would hope so; doubtless we will find out tommorow.

zedy; i disagree....increased production will help mitigate the imminent smaller income receipts - a smaller % of a bigger pot. And the cost of FDP isn't all borne by GKP, and isn't all borne upfront, so ongoing income, in conjunction with cash at hand/receipts to end of year would substantially cover the timeframe of the FDP.

Yes this would require a pulling back (but not obliteration) of dividends, but i feel that is already happening, to build an investment chest. Feel the latest dividend could have been considerably more considering recent receipts, and was less opulent than preceding ones to facilitate such investment chest building.

I'd rather have a 10% yield for 20 years than 30% for each of 2 years - and that's what i believe increased production/FDP will bring.
